I think they stuck because of all the yelling. I probably listen out of nostalgia.
I feel ya on the nostalgia.

I remember mustering listening to Brass monkey with for other scouts on the way to a camping trip in my dad's dodge colt Vista wagon.

Sabotage is one of my six year old's favorite songs; one of my wife's too. Yes, we are those parents.

There was one other person skiing my moguls the other day. I caught up to her and got on a chair, said Howdy to Crickets….because she had Cheryl Crow bumping at Hearing Destruction Volume.

Early to mid-90's my brother and I went to see Fishbone at the Orpheum in Boston with Primus opening. All we knew about Primus was they had an interesting bass player and that 'Winona's Big Brown Beaver' single that was on MTV all the time. Of course a few songs in the crowd is chanting 'Primus sucks!' and I remember telling my brother that I thought they were pretty good. Can't remember when we figured it out, but it made me appreciate Primus fans. Fishbone was awesome, BTW.

Well put (did you come up with that one or are you borrowing it?). If it hadn't been for Nirvana no one would have ever heard of Foo Fighters/Grohl.

What about neither? I mean, I kinda like the Stones, Beggar's Banquet is a great album, but I'm definitely not a Stones guy. And not The Who either.

Yeah what if I like some of the stones and some of the who, and think some of both suck…how does that work?

Ever seen Pulp Fiction? Though, on that scene it was Elvis or the Stones.

    K how about this:

ANY song where there is a lyric that includes “see what I mean” or “you know what I mean” is garbage.

    Also…

If it’s a “this place rhymes with that place” song and it’s NOT ‘I’ve been everywhere’ then it also sucks.

IMO if you care about the lyrics in popular music you're doing it wrong.

It appears that many if not most rappers cannot play musical instruments or sing, so is it is really music?

Without Elvis or stolen beats the BB are left with Fight for Your Right to Party and Mr. Roboto. Can you actually call that music with a straight face?

The Beastie Boys were a punk band before they switched to rap.

    And Paul's Boutique is genius.

I'd complain about how most heavy metal sucks, but it's not music. It's noise

I think there are two types of people in this world: those who give a shit what kind of music other people like and those who are somehow ok with people enjoying what they enjoy.

There’s a subcategory of people who like or support those who like nickelback, but that’s not what this thread is about.

I like what I like and don’t spend a lot of time analyzing it or judging myself over it. And All My Life by Foo Fighters is a great tune that I turn up any time it comes on.

One thing I do struggle with is really loud music. There’s a time and a place (alone in my car or at a concert), but the time for me is a lot less often than seems common with a lot of folk.

Were the Monkees a real band? And if so, did they suck?
