Events like these always make me think about running with one in the resort. It seems about time for me to pick up one. It might not save you in every situation, but I would imagine you would be found much quicker if you were beeping.

On storm days I roll full kit. Beacon, shovel, probe. Even days after I roll full kit due to me stepping OB looking for fresh pow.

I have beeped every day inbounds since the Silver avy two years ago. Feel a bit naked without shovel/probe but beeping is better than nothing. Eventually I’ll pick up a sidecountry vest.

I don’t put anything else in my pants pockets while skiing anyway so I don’t even notice it’s there. No reason not to other than maybe changing batteries more often during the season.

If I’m on skis I’m beeping. Except boring days dorking around on race skis in the spring or something.

I don’t understand people who own beacons (sometimes even bring them!) but don’t keep them turned on. What are you saving? A few pennies worth of drain on some AAA batteries? Even if the risk of your plans are low to nil, having your beacon can let you assist if something happens to someone else

World gets smaller every time. A really nice family, too.

Night skiing lasted longer than the search last night? Ugh. So much is so wrong.

Anyone carry a PLB inbounds? Seems like that's what brought Two Bear out to pick up spknmike.

We carry Lifeflight insurance, but in a treewell I'd much rather get an early call out to Two Bear.

i carry an ACR Artex PLB everywhere i go outdoors
    except in-bounds resort skiing!!

the unit must be manually triggered
that could be challenging in a tight tree well
with limited space and/or an injury

might be time to rethink my strategy

Hey guys. Does anyone have a recommendation on good boot work/punching done to some hawx ultra xtd’s? Located in the Coeur d’Alene to Schweitzer area? Thanks

Go see Joe Henderson at the Alpine Shop - he mostly works out of the location up at Schweitzer.

Micah at Sports Creel in the valley has done an awesome job making the hawx prime xtd fit my weird shaped feet.

++ 1 for Micah, but that dude is majorly backed up with other work orders.

Asking for boot fitting in December is comical. Major work is a fall thing, get to know a fitter so that you can have minor tweaks during the year when their work orders are backlogged!

Another vote for Micah. He's my go-to for just about any technician need. However, as noted, they're swamped so you'll need to schedule an appointment with him. And, I'm not kidding.

Do I remember an Inland Maggot meetup at Silver and/or 49N? I can't find the thread. With a newly bought Indy Pass and a desire to try some Mfree 108s, I might have to join.

Took the Mrs out for her first backcountry adventure across from Lookout. Low angle but the snow is holding up well thanks to these cold temps which is keeping the stoke level high! Click image for larger version.

Last 2 hours as Spokane were so good!!

5-6” of surfy snow, more where the wind transported it. So much energy!!
