Why am I seeing custom Praxis skis at 50% off for $800 on the website. $1600 retail? Really?

That is the normal list price for the full-bore customs, including width and rocker profile modifications.

Does anybody actually pay that, instead of waiting for the summer sale? No idea. But either way, $800 is a super good deal for that level of customization if you want to take advantage of it, no matter what the "normal" sticker price is.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Very eagerly awaiting my custom order. Keith estimated late August, so should be pretty soon!

187 UL -1 width to use as a dedicated touring ski, to go with my 192s as the resort pow ski. With a graphic that I think is going to look insanely good.

I had a few questions about the 192 Protests for anyone with knowledge of them.

Is everyone still in consensus that it's best to mount them -1cm back from recommended, which would be -9 from center?
After all the years of bru-haha on TGR about mounting behind the line, has the official mount point on Protests has never changed?

A lot of people (including Keith) suggest that +1 flex makes the protest a a better resort powder ski. As someone who's predominantly used quite heavy and stiff powder skis in the past (arguably overkill weight and flex skis like the Bodacious and BG), I'm curious if going +1 would just be overkill all over again, or if the +1's still have a pretty round flex pattern that doesn't take too much away from the standard flex's powder performance.

For reference, I'm 6'4 185lbs. So I do also wonder if 196's are the way to go, not 192

    FWIW, I'm 6' 165lb and have a pair of 192 flex 3s. I definitely prefer them at a -1 mount.

As far as flex goes, they'd probably work a bit better once things get really chopped up if they were stiffer, but by that point I'm not that interested in being on a ski that wide anyway. I'm fine swinging by the truck to swap at lunch. For actually skiing pow, I don't see any reason to go stiffer, at least at my weight.

Also, 192 feels like the right length for me as a resort ski. As mentioned above I just ordered a pair of 187 -1cm ULs to tour on.

I not a Protest expert but my understanding is that the protest gets its float from underfoot. So with that in mind, changing the flex shouldn't have a huge effect on the float. Many people on here like a +1 flex so if you like stiff pow sticks, going with a +1 flex makes sense to me. I'm 6'3 200lbs and ride a 192 +1 flex protest and I'm happy with them. Haven't ridden a standard flex or 196 though.

I skied the 187 length in Japan for a few weeks, and they just seemed a bit short for my 190lb and 6’ frame. Great fun in pow past your knees.

5'11, 190lbs, have a 192 4flex and they're stellar in anything soft, especially where I can let them run.

5’10” 190lbs. Own both 188 stock flex and custom 192 veneer 4flex. I prefer the 192 4 flex as this shape doesn’t need to flex to float due to the widest part of the ski is at the toe of the binding. Skis of this shape excel in a stiffer pattern imho. As far as mount goes, I went -1.75 after lining up my 188’s next to the 192. Absolutely wouldn’t change a thing for the mount. The 192 4 flex kills resort pow and is still super nimble/quick in trees etc.

187 Flex 4 with Carbon and veneer tops mounted -1.25. Absolutely money for my just shy of 5'10" 165 pound self.

IMO, Protests are best mounted over 1cm behind the line. And detune the piss out of the non contact portions of the edge. Makes them way more stable in variable snow.

I’m 6-3 and 190. I love my 192 veneer 3 flex Plenty of stout and mounted -1.3 based on existing holes. Seems perfect to me and plenty of ski at 192 for deep days and great on groomers. I just bought some 187 on sale and will mount -1. These skis kick ass.

]I have the 192 in a 4 flex mounted -1.5. They work for me at 6’2 205lbs and have given me many fun days in more than just fresh.

Just got an email that they're ready to go and will ship on Monday! Stoke is high, and Moment Voyagers have been ordered to go on 'em.

    Dang guys good info.

192 Protest at +1 Flex with Carbon added, no veneer. Will mount -1.5 and report back from Snowbird when we get that first good storm!

Dunno if GPOs of all widths are being pressed at the same time, but Keith emailed me today, that my +10 GPOs are shipping on Monday.

So, let this get yer GPO juices flowing ;-)

I’m another data point for -1.5. I followed consensus in making that decision, and haven’t been disappointed.

Pretty much my exact specs and experience. I'd go -1.5 personally.
