edit: anyone have a suggestion on a ski rack for this sucker. the x-rack (www.x-rack.com) looks pretty good.

Racks are totally unnecessary and expensive, and the CFR attatchment uses super-shady snowboard straps.

Of course. But then again, he should have bought a REV, of course.

    Nice sled...

my buddy and I basically made our own x-rack for his sled with 10 dollars worth of metal and bungy cords from the hardware store...

actually the closest new rev available was somewhere up in your neck of the woods. they are, umm, pretty popular apparently.

also, the dealer i bought the arctic cat from is the first and only snowmobile dealer in south lake and they will have a fully stocked service dept. I like keeping the money local and having the service a mile from my workplace is key.

the closest place to get a rev serviced is about an hour and half drive.

huh, so no rack? so just some bungy cords or what?

so what do we use? buddy suggested just a straight up waterski tow rope.

that gonna work to get us to the staging area? (at which point we are gonna have to get good at riding two at a time on the sled....ugh, i am dreading trying to get me an arty up to the top of red lake peak. )

I usually use old dynamic climbing rope for towing. Works well. No need for a fancy ski rack or waterski rope tow. Keep it short. Nice sled, you'll have a bunch of fun with it.

with only one sled and no experience, we will definitely be starting close to the road. and i think you could spend about 2 weeks lapping redlake and not get bored. great terrain with alot of line choices.

but don't worry my very first day will be spent scouting sonora pass.

LPH, you’re being too cautious. That isn’t very sledneck. You need to rally 15 miles up a closed road, in the dark, and slay Kirkwood’s gnarlier little brother. When you’re down at Sonora, look a little south towards Virginia Lakes or even the Tioga Pass Road. Both are popular with the spring skiing crowd, but accessing them in powder conditions…. well, you have an imagination.

The mere thought of skiing these two areas mid-winter just made me soil myself.

Excuse the Euro Jong question but how does this work? You take it in turns to ski down so the other can drive you back up? Sounds good to me... If you own the sled I guess you get extra runs while your buddies drive you just so they get a shot at all...???

yeah, that is how it works with one sled.

the other option is finding a wide open bowl and letting the sled ghost ride back down. (can't wait to try that. )

Nice sled man, anton pointed it out when we drove by the dealer the other day.......def sick as hell.

As for towing i think I saw on here either last year or the year before that you can us a rope with an old bike tube so you can put is around your waist or something. (quick clip for releasing iscase you fall or something.........) or I could have just made that up in my head...cant really remember.

A rack is super nice when boondocking or slednecking while going out/back, ie., Sonora Pass from the lower gate. Or whoopdee-doos!!
Tow rope, mtb tube as harness w/ 'biner holding together. Then you have a couple options. Just have a rabbit ear tied in tow rope w/ another biner. Feed tail thru harness biner, then back thru rabbit ear'd biner. Hold on to end of rope. A small knot is nice to hold and will slip right thru biners.
Or tie a short pc of rope on harness biner and feed thru rabbit ear in rope. Sit back and hold on to harness rope.
We tow 8 mi/lap and generally do 5 or more laps. Plus the tow up and back, 16mi.
Watch for overheating when towing in anything other than pow.
    Get ice scratchers.
You might wanna get one of your bros to ghost ride his sled down a bowl first.
It works unless the sled gets bumped squirrelly. Can you say, D'OH!!?

first day out on saturday up to Freel peak area.

OH MY GOD is this sport fun! Bluebird day, mushy snow, temps in the 50's. what a rush! the amount of ground you can cover, the pitches you can climb, the speed!

I think with the 'typically' bomber tahoe snowpack i am going to be spending alot of days touring and ski touring on this bad boy.
