Remember to get that 20 hr service scheduled. Impossible to find anyone willing to service in Boston right now. MJM, the boatbuilder, is doing my service 10 hours late right now. No one else would do it. Taking the boat thru the canal for the summer this weekend.

Good heads up, thanks. Hadn't even occurred to me to do that. Your new boat is an MJM? Noice. You mind saying which one? Enjoy your cruise this weekend.

Hehe. Google turned up a couple of clues under mad max center console. A joint called “seven marine” (motors?) had a FB post in the results.

I can’t be the only person that thinks a 53 foot yacht without any meaningful cabin is fucking stupid.

Also, congrats on the new whip Ice. I like the open bow. Not everyone cruising around is crushing 12’ seas to get to the fish, but in reality just want some more seating instead of an already quasi useless cuddy.

I’ll see myself back to the sailing thread.

My boat cost less than one of those engines. I have no clue who owns that. I never saw it again, so probably no one local. It was massive.

Who can have the biggest CC is a big deal down here these days. They keep getting bigger and bigger, and like BMills said, no useable space for overnights. Poker Runs is all they are really good for. That and getting to the Keys is 5 hours.

HCB is just a fancy name for a Hydrasports Custom Boat.

Yeah, I just saw that too. I wonder if they porpoise and are wet like the old Hydrasports were rumored to be?

Here's the HCB 65' Estrella. As for who needs a 65' CC, its their tender/picnic boat. The morhership was on Nantucket and this little guy buzzed around the Cape. Click image for larger version.

Well drop off some stoke while you’re over there. Surely the cocktails and dreams spinnaker has been shook out by now on the J70 eh?
I attempted to purchase a vagabond 17 as a Colorado “yacht” but it fell through and then I ended up needing the money more than a boat but I found some rentals so still gonna give it a go.

It’s a kind of cool design; guy says it sleeps two but that it is mostly a “day boat with a potential for an overnight.” Interesting way they do fit in a full head with separate shower. Certainly not a lot of space down there but it does have AC.

Comfortable enough you could maybe at least smuggle a baseball player here or there, right?

The purpose for those huge engine long mid hulls is to get to the goods faster than others. They are popular in serious big game fishing tourneys.
That is what I have been told at least, and I have seen quite a few at the Los Suenos and Quepos marinas. Otherwise, I have seen them only in Miami, Coral Gables and Islamorada

They are all over here as well, but to get into 100+ ft of water we need to go out 50+ miles each way.
The middle grounds is 110 miles or so. Deepest part of the Gulf, I think. Deepest near here at least.

I'd be down. VTeton kinda mentioned that too, doing something down in this general area, maybe at Tarpaulin Cove on Naushon Island in the Elizabeth Islands - I've never been there but it's supposed to be a pretty sweet spot: https://www.tide-forecast.com/locati...-Massachusetts

Grinding the old epoxy paint from the pontoons on my buddy's old beater 1984 house boat that he recently inherited. Located near Bullfrog Marina, Lake Powell. Loudest, hottest, dirtiest job I've had since my days in the USN.

Almost everything works. The boat came with tons of relevant tools/parts/gear as well. Not a bad camping platform for 3-4 trips a year down there.

We had a ton of help from "Ticaboo Dan" https://ticabooservice.com/ and his partner Tucker. They are very well versed in diagnosing/fixing old decrepit LP houseboats.

Man that does look like a loud, dirty, hot job. Came out looking nice, though. How hot was it out?

That was back in early may so it was only 94ish. A little overcast and windy so it wasn't too brutal. We could mostly hide in the shade under/beside the boat.

It was a lot of work getting everything figured out and cleaned up on the shakedown cruise, but it's a good minimalist platform now. We also don't have to worry about scratching the anchor when it gets rammed up on a beach.
