They are, great lake boats and good quality. I went after a Product Marketing job for Colbalt once, would have been a dream job. Pulled my res after found out I had to re-locate to KS. I did my stint in hell, no fucking way I would voluntarily move back to KS.

Absolutely. You ever been to Tarpaulin Cove? I haven't, but hear it's a sweet spot. About halfway down Naushon on the Vineyard side. Supposedly you have to anchor or they might come and kick you off but you can anchor right off the beach.

I did that with Hinckley and RobinHood boats, as much as I liked Maine in the summer and the boat companies I remembered how miserable the winters could be in Maine.

30 is probably too much. We're about a year away from getting serious, and there are so many variables. We have to figure out storage, because our driveway is steep. But my Brother in law will be going in on it too, so we'll have somewhere to put it.

No head I don't think, but a cuddy. 4-5 people max, but often just 1 or 2. No surfing..

Maybe not that rig but I think I’ve seen the cuddy fore vberth but with a small head in a step in area under/“in” the console.

If I didn't live here I think maybe the only other place I'd live is Maine.

Summer on the coast is world class small boat cruising and good whitewater paddling up north, but Winters certainly leave me wanting. Our youngest is entering High School so my wife and I have a few years until we go nomadic gain and winter out West and come back to Maine when it’s time to put the boats in. Until then, a couple weeks out West every February will have to do. Damn I really missed the winter trip this past year!

If you want to truly go offshore look for a deep V hull to get a softer ride but at the expense of fuel economy.

Budget/value = Angler. I run an Angler 26 for a summer family when they need. It’s an ok boat for the entry price point.

Step up/investment = Grady White or a Parker. I’ve owned several Grady’s and lots of friends rec fishing out of Parker’s. Hold their value based on reputation.

You are right. It's been almost 20 years since I've been in one. I asked my father last night and he said there was lil bucket in/under the cuddy.

He used to send that thing off the ferry wake going to the islands from the cape. When I was young I would shit my pants. I want one now so bad.

Pretty awesome all the innovation they put into this one. Looks like a hog as the ass, the side view is much nicer though. It will be interesting to see who mounts these as soon as they are available to repower customers. Just about every go-fast day boater is going to be dropping the 450r they have and mounting one of these The best part of this motor might be the supposed ease of maintenance.

200 hour service interval between oil changes!? But at 1,260 lbs how many can you realistically mount?

Can't afford shit to Freeman is usually a longer road than 1 year.

New or used?
The only thing I know about new boats is they are way overpriced, have warranties, warranties are needed because most of the people I see buying them don't know shit about boating.

Contender (the old cuddys are my favorite)

Intrepid- I have (still mine, but sold to family- just waiting for transport and transfer of title) a 1996 339 and the layout on their new 31 and 35 is almost still the same in the WA styles. SOLID offshore ride. Fit and finish still looks new on a 25 year old boat. I crush every wake and wave at 4200 rpm's, never touching the throttle. 4100-4200 is where it gets up on the step and is more "efficient". I just hate 2 engines. More engines more problems.

Boston Whaler- Looking for a 25 Guardian now to hang a single 350 Yammi off. Kinda like looking for a unicorn right now since I want it to have factory Whaler Drive. '86-92ish I believe. The Guardians were built with 2 or 3 extra layers of glass for military and police use. They are tanks.

Aquasport- very popular refits around here. Solid build. Custom guys like Gause Built used old Aquasport molds to start out, so it is a pretty popular look around here in Tampa Bay.

Regulator- Super solid, handles anything, fit and finish top quality.

Dorado- The old 30 Dorado is one of my favorite cuddys of all time. Most came with inboards, so lots of guys hang Armstrong brackets off them and repower with outboards.

Mako- Any made prior to '92 (When hurricane Andrew took out the factory) The 25 rides like any modern 30. It is an absolute tank offshore. The older cut transom turns some off, but there are tons of filled transoms with Porta brackets or Armstrongs on rebuilds. Those can cost quite a bit though.

Freeman for the budget-minded boater.
3 year wait list. Used 37's going for $500k, 42LR's for seven figures, 600+ gallon fuel capacity, .6 to 1.1 mpg depending on rpms.

Have a friend that just ordered a 33' Invincible cat. Never been on one, never fished off a cat, no idea how they ride or handle. He is a dentist.
