I swam in my first competition yesterday since January 2020. They did two sessions with 40 swimmers allowed in each to avoid crowding (it was an indoor meet). Upon entering they had us answer a question about our vaccination status. 97% were fully vaccinated (or at least claimed to be), one was not, and one didn't answer.

What good does not answering do?

Maybe they were just smart enough to know that its better to remain silence and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

If it makes zero difference whether or not I get let in somewhere, I'm not answering either simply on principle.

Don't ask me questions if the answers don't matter.

Loving the current CO guidance for unvaccinated children. Masks are required for unvaccinated kids older than 12 and also required for unvaccinated kids pre-school to grade 12.

So do 3-11 year olds needs masks in schools/daycare or not? Who knows?

"Face coverings are still required in certain settings for individuals age twelve and older, which include:

Unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated students, staff, and visitors to preschool through grade 12 schools (including extracurricular activities) and child care centers and services, including camps, except while participating in outdoor activities;"

No, it's more on the grounds of efficiency. Unless it means I have to go over in the non-vaccinated section or something, why ask in the first place?

I am also talking a big game on the internet, when in reality I'd probably just do what I'm supposed to do and say "yes I am."

along these lines, i went to the Intermountain hospital here back in May for my annual. was asked 'are you or any members of your immediate household experiencing covid-like symptoms' upon online checking, arrival at the front door and at the reception desk.

at no point did the hospital ask for my vaccination status. i guess because the answer doesn't matter here. very efficient of Intermountain.

They technically answered. There were three choices: vaccinated, not vaccinated, don't want to answer.

There are definitely a group of people who are in the "it's none of your business" camp.

It is effectively the same as answering you are not vaccinated when one declines to answer. The answers would be used in contact tracing I would think.

I had my first Covid 19 rapid test last week. Never had any symptoms or anything and the facility I was going to required the test before I was allowed in to complete the work. I'm vaccinated but that did not preclude them from requiring a swab and their lab doing the test.

That was my first thought as well but there’re also people who are vaccinated but don’t want to admit it because it could hurt their brand.

I guess my thought is this:

The difference between the hospital is that we might want a higher level of protection for the vulnerable.

If work is paying to test you if you are vaccinated and feeling fine, well then they are wasting their $.

One of my med school classmates--and the lead "singer" in my band, believed that all human disease was caused by changes in people's magnetic fields. He was kicked out of school. Turns out maybe he was on to something.

(Singer in quotes because what he did could not be remoted called singing, but he was the only one of us with the balls to stand up there and shout into a microphone.)

That and the kook speaking during public comments who kept trying to stick a key on her neck.........which kept falling off, natch. We are doomed as a species. I give the over/under at ~ 10 years.
