Apparently 90% of the Costco customers in Bozeman are vaxxed. It was nice to see the employees both masked and unmasked as that'll give me a bit of ammo at my place of employment.

Corroborating what I found with some internet searching, you are correct, sir. In a nutshell, that's all it boils down to apparently. Supposedly, a butt shot wouldn't be any more or less effective than the arm, although some things I read said there's really no data yet to substantiate it one way or another. But yeah, they said arms are simply more conducive to mass vaccination and that's basically it.

I tried to swim this morning and the arm I got my shot in is still very sore. I can really just barely do a full arm rotation. Obviously it's not real conducive to swimming. I'm surprised it's still like this almost 72 hours after the shot.

Canada has now passed the USA in % of population who have received their first dose, with no signs of slowing down. https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations

But for whatever reason (simplicity? realism?) they've chose "2 weeks after you last dose" as the metric for "fully vaccinated."

People not feeling any muscle pain post injection could be due to many reasons - the most likely is the individual immune system response to the vaccine - but it could also in some cases be due to the injection being delivered into fat between the skin and muscle (if a long enough needle is not used or the needle isn’t inserted deep enough).
I was responding to Jong Lafitte's concerned that there was something wrong with his first shot because he didn't feel much. I should have mentioned that there are pain receptors in muscles and the proximity of the injection to those can also influence how the shot feels as well as the speed of the injection--faster might hurt slightly more. Pain in the shoulder or arm lingering after the injection is from the inflammatory reaction to the vaccine and is unrelated, except in the very rare cases of axillary or radial nerve injury.

One of the reasons the deltoid is used is because it is less fatty than other parts of the body in fat people. If they were injecting people in the ass they'd have to bring Ahab back from the dead. The ass is preferred when the volume of the injection is large--like MF's repeated penicillin shots.

it's odd here in Oregon (portland metro area) because the only people I know who aren't vaccinated are happy to tell you they're not vaccinated. Definitely a combination of Jenny McCarthy, Trump, RFK Jr, influence, but also a bunch of lazy people who don't think COVID is a big deal or, presumably, are afraid of needles...a cousin of mine and uncle fall into this category.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

All they have to do here is show the % of Americans who've been vaccinated and we'll all do our best to 1-up them due to our inferiority complex. It's the Canadian way!

FWIW, my anti-vax/vax-hesitant friend (we all have one, don't we) told me the other day he's "done his research" and will be getting the Pfizer shot once the initial rush dies down. I told him he's made me happy. We are pals again!

Well of course you should wear a mask; I mean, the place is full flies for dog's sake.

Ah! Thanks for splaining. How'd ya know it was penicillin?! Haha. Although I wish I had a more scandalous back story tied to it, it was simply that it was SOP that EVERYONE gets it when starting basic training, and got it again pre-emptively before they sent me to the sticks in Africa cuz of reasons? Always thought it odd they'd nuke my system before doing anything, but that's the government for ya. That shot SUCKS, though. Like a golf ball of paste shoved into your ass cheek with a hudge needle. Everything else is child's play after that.

The shot before your deployment was likely IgG not penicillin.

Interesting. You could be right. I dunno. It was always like "line up" and you take whatever they wanted to put in you. Anthrax was another one that wasn't fun. Totally pointless in the end too.

I guess you could argue every vaccine is pointless until it's not. That's sort of the definition of preventive medicine.

I had both IgG and anthrax vaccine. Why did you get the anthrax vaccine, were you deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan? I got the anthrax vaccine in ‘91 and it was experimental but we didn’t have a choice.

State of Oregon just announced a raffle - get at least one shot by June 27 and you’re eligible for a $1,000,000 prize.

Second Biontec shot yesterday. No side effects except a slightly sore arm. But I swear I had an elrvated state of mind yesterday where I could understand SFB!

But since the other arm is also sore from the climbing Session on saturday I can barely make out the difference.
It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Interesting article about the differences in Covid rates in vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

Compelling data but very scary with how counties and states are just throwing restrictions to the wayside

The Ohio vax lotto is working. What makes it such a good idea compared with other vax incentive proposals is that it targets the folks who are bad at assessing risks. It brings out people who over-estimate the risk of rare side-effects by incentivizing an over-estimated hope for rare-benefits.
