The media wants to tie everything to a clearly defined side. People are more complicated than that. Take a look at the younger club crowd. Never social distanced just took the party underground. Got sick got better. 'just like every year'. What do you think they say about the vacines? - generally a very liberal group

If you use these sorts of examples as proof that science is not trustworthy than I sincerely doubt you understand how science works. Science moves on a continuum where evidence is directly proportional to confidence. In other words, one-off or new observations require corroboration and/or supporting data before they can move to a place where people gain confident of their reality. This isn't about skepticism. Instead it's a respect for the process and a recognition that early findings can be wrong for a million reasons (some of them nefarious). You were right to question the inverse relationship between smoking and covid. However, rather than vilify all of "SciENCE" you should praise the process that revealed the truth.

IDK about overall but they seem a bit delusional if they think $42.5B is so far out of the federal government's reach.

We think it’s unlikely that many districts can afford to implement such a program, even with federal help.

I do not disagree with you. One thought that I have is that compensatory weekly surveillance testing at schools will result in catching spread in the community.

I edited my original post to add the main Twitter acct discussion.

Their theory is gaining some traction as the surveillance testing at an LA school had a large number of false positives.

I know the uiuc surveillance program has gotten a lot of positive attention. My brief skim, I can’t find reporting of false positives from their LAMP tests.

There is in my weird corner of CA. Ecstatic dance parties renting out private spaces like grange halls and auditorium when such activities are supposed to not be permissible. It’s a reason why my county has such a higher case rate and positivity score compared to many other areas.
