So yeah. About that. I remember a few of us calling bullshit on that study way back when. Others were blindly guzzling that news puke being like "Yup. Shore is a weird virus, huh?"

This, folks. This is why it's ok to be skeptical about "teh SciENce" sometimes.

The media wants to tie everything to a clearly defined side. People are more complicated than that. Take a look at the younger club crowd. Never social distanced just took the party underground. Got sick got better. 'just like every year'. What do you think they say about the vacines? - generally a very liberal group

the canadian provinces that just had vaccines opened up to the 40-55 crowd have been overwhelmed with demand - this following lower than expected demand in the 55 and up crowd. I find that very interesting.

IDK about overall but they seem a bit delusional if they think $42.5B is so far out of the federal government's reach.

We think it’s unlikely that many districts can afford to implement such a program, even with federal help.
They already know what that federal help looks like?

I do not disagree with you. One thought that I have is that compensatory weekly surveillance testing at schools will result in catching spread in the community.

I edited my original post to add the main Twitter acct discussion.

Their theory is gaining some traction as the surveillance testing at an LA school had a large number of false positives.

I know the uiuc surveillance program has gotten a lot of positive attention. My brief skim, I can’t find reporting of false positives from their LAMP tests.

Ontario sucks right now, but in comparison to several states is still a hell of a lot safer place to be. Some numbers I saw 2 days ago:

    Ontario - 203.8 cases/100k last 7 days
    Florida - 204.3
    New York - 211.3
    Pennsylvania - 253.2
    New Jersey - 269.7
    Minnesota - 238.4
    Michigan - 482.5 (yikes!)

Please explain how mask wearing is “bad for society” in a post COVID world? I don’t get it.
Don't make this an HBM and those anti-maskers 'us vs. them' argument.

I'm not an anti-masker. I'm for practical, common sense mask wearing that follows science based decision making.

I understand you are not an anti masker.

You still haven’t explained how it’s “bad for society” that someone chooses to wear a mask at a time and place of their choosing that may or may not fall in line with how you feel about wearing a mask during a pandemic.

I can’t remember what White House press conference it was, but I will never forget standing in our EOC as we all looked at each other with WTF faces and the Emergency Manager frowned, then muted the TV, and never made us listen to another one again.

Walked by a guy wearing a mask alone in his car yesterday and heard him talking on the phone. I was a little jealous--it sounded like a really good talking mask and the dust storm was kinda sucky and cold on my face.

If you wear a mask that doesn't bother you and HBM doesn't see it, will you still catch the herp?

are you trying to post an article that addresses this:

COVID-19 cases plummet in Prince Rupert, rise in Terrace

3 Covid cases diagnosed in the past 7 days in Prince Rupert. Such a dramatic drop in numbers from a month ago. I am so thankful for the mass vaccination clinic.

There is in my weird corner of CA. Ecstatic dance parties renting out private spaces like grange halls and auditorium when such activities are supposed to not be permissible. It’s a reason why my county has such a higher case rate and positivity score compared to many other areas.

Yes, I have explained it already. I'm not going to write a 50 page essay on it.

    - societal norms shifting to wearing masks when pointless could lead to creation of a population full of mysophobia

We are not talking about someone simply skiing in jeans because they feel like it. We're talking about an entire populace who has now been ingrained with a mindset of excessive mask wearing (among other unneeded public health measures).

"other unneeded public health measures" = vague as fuck = weak. GTFO with that lame shit. It's transparent what you are trying to do.

    try harder. be better.

Also - what if someone "likes wearing a mask" - just like someone "likes wearing jeans while skiing" - who made you judge?
