Arent you dead?
Wife and I got Moderna #1 yesterday. Both just a little sore in arm. Otherwise felt normal. Went for a run after and actually felt pretty great.

Small number of fully vaccinated people in Washington test positive for COVID
Among the more than 1 million Washingtonians who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, 102 people have tested positive for COVID-19 more than two weeks after their vaccinations, the state Department of Health said Tuesday.
Those cases include eight people who have been hospitalized. Two deaths are also being investigated as possible “vaccine breakthrough” cases, the department said.
The vaccine breakthrough cases, which the department says are expected with any vaccine, represent .01% of the people who have been fully vaccinated and were tallied since Feb. 1, says a DOH news release issued Tuesday.
Clinical trials have shown COVID-19 vaccines reduce the risk of contracting the coronavirus by up to 95%, but a small percentage of fully vaccinated people can still be expected to get it, the release says.
Breakthrough cases have been identified in 18 counties. Most of the people with confirmed vaccine breakthrough experienced only mild symptoms, if any, according to DOH. The two patients who died were both older than 80 and had underlying heath conditions.
The health department says more investigation is needed to determine if virus variants caused the breakthrough infections.
“It is important to remember that every vaccine on the market right now prevents severe disease and death in most cases,” said the state’s Secretary of Health Dr. Umair Shah. “People should still get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible, and encourage friends, loved ones, and co-workers to do the same.”
Shah encouraged people to continue wearing masks, practice social distancing and wash hands regularly to prevent spreading COVID-19.
Samaritan Healthcare, in Moses Lake, reported two breakthrough cases earlier this month. In King County, five people are known to have tested positive for the coronavirus after reporting they had been fully vaccinated.

Stupid story....Had Moderna shots back in Jan/Feb....no effect/pain, etc......
Last night I felt pain in my upper right arm....(I’m dumb)....so I was thinking man, “how is that injection hurting now?...3 months later?...is this like a really late side effect??
Then I remembered I got hit by a line drive in the arm throwing BP on Monday.....didn’t get behind the L screen fast enough...haha.
So...I’m ok...still a dumbass, but my arm’s not gonna fall off.... So, I got that going for me.
I just read that Florida vaccinated residents had similar numbers, and, one wonders [Benny conspiracy theorist emerges} if shitheads like their governor are so depraved that they have somehow built a system where people are getting injected with nothing, just to get the numbers up. I wouldn't put that over DeSantis.
I had an easier time getting Coachella tickets in 2011 than getting a vaccine appointment in Seattle these past two days... super frustrating. I’m in this group that became eligible yesterday. I selfishly really want to book an appointment before the hordes become eligible in two weeks...

The mRNA vaccines were 95% effective over the few months they were studied before being approved. One would expect that the failure rate would increase over time. The Washington cases were far less than 5% of people vaccinated, but one would also expect more cases to appear in vaccinated people over time. That there were hospitalizations and deaths is more disconcerting. It would be good to know if cases were associated with a particular lot or lots or particular vaccination sites--one could easily imagine a breakdown in cold handling.
Meanwhile 15M J and J doses discarded because the factory mixed up ingredients between J and J and AZ vaccines. Seems to me they ought to run a trial with the mixed up vaccine. Might work better than the original.
Someone in Placer County California might elaborate, there is a dust up in Placer county because a Sherriff listed a cause of death as "The Vaccine" Someone died shortly after getting the Vaccine. That's my interpretation of it.
Sherriff says death due to complications from vaccination, others saying You cant say that. And of course its all divided into some sort of political camp.
I was not really interested in digging into it.
Even with everyone being required to hang out for 15 minuets I has not seen a single story of someone having a bad reaction. ??

Sheriff announced in January that a 65 year old HCW had died shortly after receiving the vaccine, before the autopsy was done. Autopsy showed an unrelated cause of death. Health officials had begged the sheriff not to make the announcement until after the cause of death was known but he did it anyways. Then the county tried to coverup the controversy until the Sac Bee got lawyers involved to get the series of emails released. Why did the fucking sheriff think it was his fucking business to make an announcement like that in the first place?* Just one more example of LE overstepping their bounds. It seems to be that in many ways LE in the US has been actively working to undermine efforts to control the Covid. Maybe they think protecting public health isn't manly.
*I haven't looked it up but I'm guessing Placer County is one of many counties in CA where the Coroner is the sheriff, who can overrule the pathologists working under him as to cause of death. A few years ago in San Joaquin County the sheriff was changing cause of death in LE involved deaths, a pathologist protested and was fired, and the other pathologist--Bennet Ormalu of NFL brain injury fame--resigned in protest.
If you are Kaiser I saw a bunch of open spots in Renton available. Not sure if you can book if you are not insured by Kaiser.
Also, I read there are only 1.2 million adults in WA who ARE NOT currently eligible for the vaccine. So somewhere like 85% of WA adults are currently eligible so not surprised there is currently a spike in demand.
Edit: I just received an email from Kaiser (my insurance) telling me to schedule an appointment (even though I don't think I am currently eligible) so I did (April 7 in Renton). My wife received the same message several weeks ago (even though she didn't think she was eligible at the time either). So I think some health care providers have extra spots available and are just trying to fill them up regardless of eligibility.
2nd Pfizer shot today. We will see how this goes.
Glad I got it before the threshold drops to 16+ tomorrow. Could get tougher to get in.
My speculation on this is that more than 102 breakthrough cases exist (0.01%) and that the number is quite a bit higher, in line with the clinical trials. That would be more like 60,000 cases than 102. In the trials, the subjects were tested regularly with or without symptoms. In real life application, people aren't being tested unless there's cause so probably the vast majority of breakthroughs aren't tested because they're not exhibiting symptoms or haven't been known to be exposed. That only 102 have been reported, that's the real story here regarding the vaccine's true worth in gaining herd immunity. I think that's the great story on this.
you just saw an update on this, I believe, because the SacBee just got all the emails and wrote a story on it. https://www.sacbee.com/news/investig...250167250.html

I think you're right that there are more, but testing without symptoms was not uniform for the original trials. I think it was Pfizer that tested before giving the second shot but otherwise only with symptoms, which made it hard to interpolate effectiveness of the first shot. The time period in WA is a snapshot in a specific time and place, so it's going to be different, but for sure those are great numbers in any case. Even the two deaths--out of a million people over a longer time period than the trials. Hopefully they do genetic tracing on all of them, though.
In WA, people have been getting forced to check their moral compass because the state has been iron-fisted in controlling what should be local decisions. As in altasnob's example, some with the vaccines not being fully utilized are working outside the guidelines to the extent they can and it's pushed the moral decisions onto the recipients. That's what's been wrong. The state should have left eligibility discretion to the local health officials so they could do a better job of filling available slots. This should not have been pushed onto the public to make a moral decision, like KQ was debating. Her issue was knowing that a slot taken by her was intended for someone more susceptible and outside the state mandates. In the meantime, WW county (for example) had a vaccine clinic on March 25 with over 1,000 empty slots. When asked, they indicated KQ couldn't have one of those slots because she didn't meet the state's criteria. That was wrong but WW officials couldn't override the state. Their hands were tied. Shitshow.
Also - Do these COVID vaccines reduce severity if you do get it (similar to the flu vaccine)? Or is it just an analog sick/not-sick 95%? That would further define why we are only seeing 0.01% breakthru....
