Ryan lived a street over as a youngster and Peter and I have been friends since the week we moved in to the hood (he has since moved). One of the nicest most laid back people you will ever meet and still gets after it on the mtn well in to his 70s after several replacements in the last 15yrs.

Peruvian speaks the truth. I owe him $37 in bacon and a powder skirt w/out poles straps.

    Nice front flip!

Some inbounds front flips at Stowe from a few years ago on a good day, but clearly your form held together better

    Ha! Awesome!
My upper cervical chiropractor has openings.

Not often you can ride both down the same little slope and have a blast doing it.

I thought today was going to suck, but above 2,200 stayed somewhat soft. I was pleasantly surprised I could skin all the way up Sunset.

Took a run down a wind-buffed hourglass and just popped out on the bootpack from the gondi in front of the crowds, including a family w/5 young kids hiking up to ski. The little guy in front asked me how hourglass skied and was bummed that I got it before him, but he was stoked to here it skied ok.

Then across the ridge to teardrop and into the woods. No crust noticeable down to CCC road but woods still skied ok back to state park.

I spent a couple days at Gore, my first home mountain. There wasn't much untracked, the trees have been packed out, but the cover was relatively soft and deep enough to cover anything pointy. Hell even Upper Darby was open:

Been TRYING not to go into the trees alone, but if they're good, I can't resist.

Off the map was especially fun.

Stoke meter still pegged! Glad the upper elevations are still holding up, Laps. You look cold at Stratton, buttah. Those NY off-piste trees look sweet, Harv.

Nordic skiing at Sleepy Hollow was fast and firm until around 2pm when it started to soften up. Turns were made on Fischer RCS classic skis.

‘Twas raw and windy on the hill today

That’s the backside of Killington/Pico in my picture, on the far right side. K peak in the middle, Pico to the left and you can see the little nubs of Skye Peak and Bear Mt to the right of the peak

Crotched has some pretty fun off-map glades - if your skis aren’t allergic to dirt or rocks...! It warmed up nicely in the low elevations of southern NH, and the snow was pretty soft.

Lower elevation snow was a lot more fun than higher elevation snow in S VT today.

Regardless, findings today included: skiing is still fun.

I appreciate Saddleback’s transparency. They were closed today on wind hold and the forecast looks rugged for tomorrow so they called it. I’d already decided to postpone tomorrow but will be there Wed -Thurs to sample the glades.

“It was not an easy decision but alas it sometimes must be done. After watching the weather and with an interest of snow preservation, the mountain will not operate on Tuesday, March 2nd. Forecasted high winds made operations unlikely to begin with, and now the more interesting topic - how this impacts our snow moving forward. We didn't lose much snow from this weather event, but the condition of the snow has certainly changed. We could groom the wet snow overnight and put out a product that would be feasibly ride-able tomorrow. Paired with the unlikelihood of operating given the wind, this does not seem like the best option. For quality conditions down the road, allowing the snow to dry out over many hours and then grooming afterwards will result in the best product possible for our
guests, and is key to having consistently good snow for the rest of the season.

Saddleback's dedicated uphill route is open tomorrow and there will be no cost to use the uphill path. Please be aware that this is at your own risk as there are no on-mountain services available.

Hardly anyone came out for the Lemonade Softies today, bit of misty rain for a while wasn't bad with goggles. Almost 15% of the few on the hill were taking lessons for groomer form. And some packs of teens that needed to pressure the tongues of their shoes[or wax].

I like the Saddleback play, it gonna be a firm day tomorrow, some draining would help for sure. Bush Cats are prowling up high 1st shift. Temp dow to 18º from 38º at 2:30, inch of fluffy powder over the last hour + half. No wind right now.

    Broke out the skinnies today.

-3º and overcast bob with freight train wind, that woke me 3 times last night starting at 12:15, and 3+ inches of new snow.

8am update. Wind still brutal, outside for less than a minute.

*At Lincoln, Gate House, Super Bravo, Valley House and Heaven's Gate are on wind hold. At Ellen, GMX, Inverness, North Ridge, and Summit are on wind hold. Slide Brook Express Quad is closed for the day.

    George looks inviting
