similar vein, about a week/ten days ago i was alone headed up a fairly popular bootpack just off the side of the resort when i hear, "how's it going?". i look up and see guy skiing full wedge down the side of the bootpack with skins still on, the only way being to get above me is to skin/hike.
i can't recall if i returned the pleasantry but i remember muttering, "skiing down the bootpack with skins on, the fuck?" his lady friend looked a little worried. i continued on alone

20+ years later my ex still tells the story of me eating absolute shit in the Alpine Meadows parking lot. Something about Birkenstock clogs being inappropriate footwear for icy snowy pavement.

The idea of someone clipping in for epilepsy sounds terrifying for so many reasons. I have a friend with a slight case of seizures so he just smokes weed every day and has none. He's travelled the world that way. Currently living in Korea.

Oh come on people I’m kidding. Hell, up until a couple years ago I wore Salomon Falcons - hard plastic non replaceable soles. Had some embarrassing moments in the parking lot sure, but also some terrifying moments in the boot pack.

No problems driving though.

Not Texas. Not Murica and that's all I'll say on the subject. OTOH the couple was friendly, which has been in short supply these days, and yes, guilty as charged.

My wife had a great moment bragging about how easy it was to walk around in the vibram soles on her touring boots. As expected, 3 minutes later, spectacularly eats shit. That was almost a decade ago. Like a good husband, I still bring it up a few times a season.

Some dude in the lift line yesterday, just totally ripping in to his wife/GF/sister/whatever for wanting to take a break. "You want a break already?? Unbelievable!!! You're so complicated."

He went on about it, hadn't stopped by the time my chair was whisking me away from this douche. Guy was being a giant dick. Like, just take the break dude skiing is supposed to be fun? If not happily married I would've offered to take the break with his woman no problemo.
