    base: repaired

run of the day was on a darkened trail .
place was crazy crowded, long lines.
    big congregations
fast everywhere, more icy than good

it was a good night to put repair to the test.

    night skiing: getting old

I got to the truth on this one. Stratton F&b pulled “to go” cams as too many folks were congregating without masks which was against guidelines. Not because of drunks.

One less day of having the place to ourselves, but hopefully helps the mountain through the year. Ticket sales are up, but food and beverage is way down. http://www.skiblackmountain.org/

Hey Cat, going to make a trip over to BMOM this week for a first ever visit. What's your recommended intro tour look like?

    Riding lifts or skinning?

If riding lifts I would start with the East Bowl and work my way over starting with Beaver to st croix. I would then head down the St. John and look right away to duck in to crooked and pocwock on the left. The hike to runs have a bit of south orientation and I might pass, but one trip down the bagaduce gives you a look around.

If skinning up. Go up the Osekare to the crossing and turn left down the black and white trail where the bearclaw breaks off right. Hike the black and white back to the top and descend right towards a large rock cairn where you enter the headwaters and down into the East Bowl.

If there is fresh snow Wilson stream and the royal are my first choice.

The online map shows the trails on the hill
    http://www.skiblackmountain.org/inde...ne-map-2020-21

And this gba map has the backside
    https://granitebackcountryalliance.o...ck-white-glade

Hmmm looks like they have not updated with the bearclaw put in this Fall

    When is the NH trip?

I feel like this went way too under the radar with all the other radness in this thread.

Needs a Steely Dan track to go along with it, maybe something off Goucho...

I don’t often ski weekend days, but when I do, I prefer Saddleback. Started snowing hard around 1pm. Nice groomers before that. Ski on all day.

East Coast Roll Call #??? 20-21 Covid closures and hard core touring! Be Fit or Sit

Question for the Stowe area mags... any indications or known scheduled closing date for the Tollhouse chair? I figure it’s based on conditions and cover, but I’m trying to get a feel for my chances for the 3rd week of March.

It should be up and running then... but why would you want to ski there? The main mtn is usually open til April.

    Thanks.

To get out of and back to the ski out/in lodging. That is all. Wife doesn’t usually ski as full of a day and having that option makes things a lot easier considering she can’t hang out in a lodge because of that pesky pandemic.

Even if the lift isn’t running, having the option to ski back would be adequate.

Impressive work. If I had coffee + chili you'd be running for cover
