Thanks for the info fellas.
Cannon is the best resort Mountain in NH, imo.
Perfer et obdura, hic dolor olim utior tibi. -Ovid
Not sure I'd call Cannon a resort, but it's a hill with lifts and the best hill in NH with lifts. Kitty cat is a close 2nd, but often better because of white gold.
Threw down for an Indy Add On when I heard Cannon was added...Jay was just the cherry on top. Have an Epic also so hoping to get a midweek trip to the Granite State (Cannon/Wildcat) and another ovah ta Maine (BMOM/Saddleback).
I never got an email.
And, if they were so concerned about safety, (which is such bullshit) they wouldn't funnel hundreds of people through the tunnel from the parking lot and have a hundred people stand around in there picking up tickets, but, yeah, they have to make sure everyone is scanned for their reservation, which seems to me that there just concerned with the safety of their bottom line. And, rent or buy some porta potties, for gods sake, so that fifty people don't cram down a hallway to use a restroom. Don't even start with that six pack liftline with the spotty masking and crowd control.
I'll bet midweek is fucked for next week, too. They lost too many patrol.
If I've said it once, I've said it a million times - BMOM is a GEM!
Can't imagine I'll be making it over this year, what with covid and all, but we had a great stay at the Boardwalk Inn in Rumford

Happy 2021 maggots. Just checking in from across the border...
Been riding lifts and trying to avoid crowds at MSS and Bromont. Conditions have been decent.
Also have been running the skinny skis on Mount Royal and the snurfer at the the sledding hill. These have been really good local options!
Looked at the WX and decided fuck it, lets get the car washed in hopes of turning this around :/
Some great photos being posted in here.
I guess night skiing options will be limited up here since we have a curfew being imposed on us as of Saturday, but at least they are not closing ski hills yet.
If/when the border can open up, there are great options for XC pub crawls up in the Laurentians if anyone ever visits Canada again. lol.

Rumford is a shithole... I grew up there and got out as fast as I could. Classic papermill town that has been dying a slow death for decades. Outlaying forest, mountains, streams, and ponds are real nice. Some really nice people too, but mostly not.
BMOM is a gem... I greatly appreciate what is going on at BMOM and the good people with the vision to invest in trying to make something nice in the area, but the actual town is raw.
It would be fun to have a Mag Meetup there! Circling the wagons and camping in the parking lot could be pretty fun.

Construction of the new 58,000 square-foot Killington base lodge won’t resume until next winter, for an anticipated opening in 2022.
The new three-story building was originally targeted to open in November 2020, in time for the Audi FIS Ski Women’s World Cup, but construction abruptly halted in March 2020 due to the pandemic and Gov. Phil Scott’s stay home, stay safe orders. The World Cup was also canceled this past November due to the pandemic.
“It’s definitely an exciting project,” Killington Resort Communications Manager Courtney DiFiore said. “We look forward to unveiling it when it’s complete. We realize there are other priorities we have to tend to.”
The current K-1 base lodge will continue to be used this season and next before it’s torn down in the spring of 2022. The new building will be 21,000 square feet larger than the current building and, like the Peak Lodge, will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, offering 180 degree views of the mountain. There will be a ticket window, a guest service desk, and a rental office on the first floor, a new kitchen with enhanced dining options on the second floor and a full-service bar on the third floor.
Breadloaf, the designer of the building, also designed the Killington Grand Hotel lobby and Preston’s Restaurant.
Construction of the new K-1 lodge broke ground in July 2019 and the shell of the building was complete before the pandemic hit. It now sits boarded up.
“We have to roll with the punches,” DiFiore said.
The new lodge is part of a number of improvements, totaling about $60 million, the resort has made since 2017. A new six-person bubble chairlift was installed, snowmaking systems were updated at Pico, a new four-person chairlift replaced the former North Ridge Triple, a new K-1 gondola was installed, the Woodward Peace Park was completed and new tunnels were constructed to improve ski traffic.
“This is a significant step in fulfilling our vision to transform the way guests experience and enjoy Killington for years to come,” Killington Resort President and General Manager Mike Solimano said in a press release when the lodge was announced.
Thirded (or fourthed?) on BMOM being a gem and Rumford a shitholeA smelly, shithole, even.
That area of Western Maine down through LA and over to Augusta is full of some serious whack a doodles. My FIL is a former paper mill employee turned logger for 20 years and some 25yo degenerate provoked a fight with him at Food City because my FIL was wearing mask, didn’t work out well for the degen. I do like that area, just wish all the kids that flunked highschool and couldn’t get jobs at the mill moved down to Florida with the former governor.
No, they all stayed. Meth and opioid zombies now picking fights in the supermarket for fun.
90%+ of all my friends left asap... I clearly remember one of my friends catching hell for putting the following on his 1986 High School yearbook entry in the Ambition category: "To see this town in my rear view mirror as I drive away"
Edit for fun fact: The High School soccer team started in the very early 80's as a club because the school system wouldn't support kids who didn't want to play football. The official soccer club name was the "Rumford Stinkers".![]()
