Oh it’s anything but my friend. When the males show up they are ready to spread their wings and FUCK. But for real though the nuptial flights as they’re called can be really cool to witness, as there can be thousands of winged ants flying around in a huge swarm and birds come and have the time of their lives.

Not quite. If we’re talking all living things than ants are surpassed by things like various plants, bacteria and fungi. But of just animals ants are one of the highest in terms of total biomass, but are likely surpassed by fish, if just by a little bit. More ant biomass than there is human biomass though 100%!

I will be at the Alta Rustler Lodge in early December, Aspen Limelight in April. Last year was Alta in December, Steamboat in January, Jackson in March. Got canceled for April at the Snowmass Club and Limelight in Aspen. I skied with Shreadhead once in Snowmass a few years ago (damn he's fast, Hi Karl,we had beers at Rynos and Mezzaluna). Dang corona took my lively hood away. Been going to Jackson since 1988. I work in a hospital and have seen the shit jump off in the worst way.
