Considering a Storia for my Patrol because you can get the custom tune for a linear frame (progressive damper) and the hydraulic bottom-out. Alternatively would be the MRP Hazzard with progressive spring.
Will do. Going for second ride tonight. I'll try to compare to my Sentinel, which I tried an 11-6 on with progressive spring. So far on first ride, there's way more support, but the GG is a much more progressive bike, and has far more anti-squat. I don't know how much I'll be able to tell whether the bottom-out and pedaling is from the shock or the frame, but can probably talk a bit about poppiness and traction. One thing for certain, the Storia is super light for a coil... mine is 680g for a 230x60, my 11-6 205x57.5 (trunnion) was 1025.

    Placed a couple of orders:

XT 11-spd shifter (replacing SLX, which feels a little plasticky - Mrs C has XT and it's much crisper)
    Sunrace 11-46 11-spd cassette (replacing SLX 11-42)
    Tubeless plug repair kit
    And a couple tires

I didn't have one. So I got a Lezyne plug kit. There are a bunch, most seem pretty similar.

    Gloworm Alpha 1200 light incoming.

Will go on my helmet and replace a cheapo knockoff that I have been limping along the last couple years.

    Days are getting shorter.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Upgraded my '15 Spartan to a '19 Tracer with two sets of carbon hoops. Looked around and a lot of bikes on my short list were sold out so found this on craigslist locally with a couple rides on it. First ride tonight. The color is growing on me.

If my girlfriend got an engagement ring, I was getting an engagement bike.

Anyone want a deal on a '15 Spartan?

I got mine from Suspension Syndicate, mostly talked to Mike there. They're really responsive and helpful. He talked me into the fork also.

After second ride, the shock is definitely pretty remarkable. I'm running a friend's Motion Instruments data collection system, and it told me I had several deep compression events but I didn't feel any of them. Like, I would have guessed I used no more than 60% of my travel. My rebound speed is a bit slow and will tune that, but it didn't feel bad. It's amazing to look at the data logger and see where I transitioned from a smooth flow trail to a more raw and rough section... the travel graph explodes with movement but didn't feel any different. On smoother sections, it just erases little chatter. Compared to other coils I've ridden (2018 DHX2, 2019 11-6), my hunch that it uses the damper a lot more, but not in a bad way. It's just incredibly smooth, supportive, and consistent - the damper and spring feel are very integrated. The Fox felt like it was mostly spring, with the damper separately applying brakes to the spring. Bottom outs were a rubbery thud. The Push was much smoother, but still had a discernible bottom-out, even with the massive bumper.

I still haven't used the climb switch yet, and PR'd my benchmark climb (200 ft in .2 miles) easily. I can't attribute that to the shock - it probably is the GG leverage curve / anti-squat. But it easily felt as good as a Ripmo.

I got the Evoc Hip Pack Pro recently, and LOVE it compared to my normal fox backpack. Hip packs are the truth.

Also got those new Tannus Armour Tublesss inserts. Seems like an excellent option and lighter than cushcore.

Ha yeah we got engaged recently. I dragged her up to my small little town so getting her a bike should help smooth that over.

So ETA is 13 days before 1st day of fall.
What’s the over/under that your fork will arrive in the “fall”?

Yeah, I don't make it around these parts much any more. But, still riding as much as work and kids allow. If you notice, that build picture was taken in the dark because I didn't get started until after everyone went to bed...

Fortunately the 'Rona means I haven't traveled since February, so a lot more time at home.
