It was not clear whether the scientists had found infectious virus or inert fragments, so sexual transmission of the virus still seems very unlikely.

Scientists across the world are trying to piece together a perplexing puzzle: how exactly coronavirus affects the body, and how it spreads from person to person.
In recent months, they have learned that the virus can live on some surfaces for three days and that it can stay suspended in tiny aerosolized droplets for about 30 minutes. The virus has been detected in saliva, urine and feces.
Now researchers in China have found that the coronavirus, or bits of it, may linger in semen. But the paper, published Thursday in JAMA Network Open, an open-access medical journal, does not prove that the virus can be sexually transmitted.
The doctors tested semen from 38 patients at Shangqiu Municipal Hospital in Henan Province in central China. All the subjects, who ranged in age from 15 to 59, had previously tested positive for the coronavirus.

Congressman from pandemic-hit Yakima County tells Inslee to ease shutdown


Gov. Jay Inslee must ease his "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order so that people can freely circulate and more businesses can reopen, according to U.S. House Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash.

Newhouse who lives in and represents the county with the highest cases per 100,000 of the novel coronavirus on the West Coast, according to the Associated Press.

As of Sunday, Yakima County had a rate of 519.8 cases per 100,000, according to a SeattlePI analysis of data from the Washington State Department of Health and the U.S. Census Bureau. Franklin County, which is also in New House's Central Washington district and had county leaders raising loud voices in opposition to the shutdown, ranked second with 400.4 per 100,000.

Yakima County has seen 1,296 cases of the coronavirus, and felt 47 deaths.

The revelation came a day after Newhouse delivered a back-to-work statement, saying in part:

"With President Trump's action to invoke the Defense Production Act to supply our state with significant federal testing supplies, we can safely bring parity to our industries, get paychecks in the hands of our citizens and begin to turn the tide on this grave level of unemployment -- the worst we've seen in history."

Yakima County is a center of agriculture and food-processing industries, where outbreaks of the COVID-19 pandemic have occurred. An estimated 73,000 of the 113,000 jobs in Yakima County are in fields deemed essential. The county has a population of about 250,000.

"I trust the people of Washington to use the same cautioning and social distancing practices at locally-owned businesses as they are at large retail chains currently deemed essential under the Governor's order," Newhouse added. "If we do not trust our citizens, we will not recover from this pandemic or this economic free fall."

"The governor can no longer slow-walk his responsiveness to this dire situation," Newhouse added.

Inslee has announced a four-phase recovery plan. Its initial steps have been to allow resumption of some construction, and some non-essential surgery at hospitals, and to reopen state parks and recreation lands. The next stage will involve small gatherings, partial reopening of restaurants, along with barbershops and salons.

Curiously, the two counties with highest per capita incidence of the COVID-19 pandemic have been centers of resistance to the policies that have set out to control the novel coronavirus.

Franklin County Commissioners passed a hand-scrawled resolution rescinding Inslee's restrictions, with Commissioner Clint Didier crowing: "Franklin County is open for business!!!!" The resolution was hastily repealed a day later, with Didier dissenting, after commissioners were informed of the legal consequences of their action.

Didier joined Republican gubernatorial hopeful Tim Eyman on Friday in filing a lawsuit against Inslee, charging that the Governor committed civil rights violations with his shutdown orders. At a news conference, Didier declared, "We can take care of this virus by letting people catch it."

Newhouse and Didier, both Republicans but from different wings of the party, ran against each other for Congress from the 4th District in 2014 and 2016.

I saw that Frontier dropped that plan. The question I'd had was whether they would require both the window seat and aisle seat passengers to pay the middle seat fee. Book a flight, do you think they were going to tell you that - wait, the guy in the window seat already paid to have no one sit next to him - congrats, you get a free-bee for booking the aisle seat! Or would they be the assholes we all know they are and try to extort $39 from both passengers
