The coroner if there was a coroner's autopsy (unlikely) or the physician listed as the patient's personal physician who may or not be the medical director--apparently not in this case. I'd be believe the death certificate over the medical director but it's quite possible no one actually knows--if no testing was done, no one was paying much attention to him.

Yup. The majority of cases in W2 are from Tyson Meats.

Plug in 60% vaccinated and watch it run and tell me that's immunity.

Here's Germany's leading coronavirus expert Christian Drosten on herd immunity:

To achieve herd immunity we need 60-70% of the population to carry antibodies to the virus. The results of antibody tests suggest that in Europe and the US, in general, we are in the low single digits, but the tests are not reliable – all of them have problems with false positives – and herd immunity is also not the whole story. It assumes complete mixing of the population, but there are reasons – in part to do with the social networks people form – why the whole population may not be available for infection at any given time. Networks shift, and new people are exposed to the virus. Such effects can drive waves of infection. Another factor that could impact herd immunity is whether other coronaviruses – those that cause the common cold, for example – offer protection to this one. We don’t know, but it’s possible.

    Another part I found interesting:

In Germany, people see that the hospitals are not overwhelmed, and they don’t understand why their shops have to shut. They only look at what’s happening here, not at the situation in, say, New York or Spain. This is the prevention paradox, and for many Germans I’m the evil guy who is crippling the economy. I get death threats.

Hard to find info on Sweden. Found a bit more here: The Swedish Exception?

over 85% gets no symptoms and is not affected and if you look at the bing corona virus map; it has been everywhere in the lower 48. only reasons to go full hazmat gear is if you are over 60 or have other health issues.

Another sign of the new normal.

Ad for 10 disposable surgical masks, $ 19.99 on a local channel. The type of ad that ends with, "but for a limited time we will double the order, all you pay is a separate fee".

    Fuck.

I would have stood my ground on that one. The person apparently was, indeed, a kook. If we let people run over us for the use of specific words, as we've done, we won't have any words left.

I don't mean to go off on this but I'm a little sensitive to political correctness run amok. I'd have likely told the kook that she proved my original assertion and let her yell.

Question for the medical experts: We hear over and over that it's not a given that having had the virus confers immunity. If it turns out that it is possible to be reinfected does that more or less say that a vaccine is not possible or at least makes it much more difficult to develop?

I guess I also don't understand why you wouldn't be immune after having had it. Your body was able to fight the virus off, so that implies it created antibodies. Why wouldn't those antibodies fight it off a second time? Is it a question of the virus mutating?

I think some good viral examples are cytomegalovirus (CMV) or varicella (VZV AKA chicken pox). Our bodies fight them off, usually utilizing the adaptive immune response, but they can persist within our bodies and reactivate later.

Hmm. There is a vaccine for shingles, though, so I suppose that's promising for COVID-19?
