I am in a Bronx V.A. hospital waiting room right now waiting for my friend coming out of eye surgery. They are shutting down all elective surgeries tomorrow to free up ICU and prevent contamination. All NY hospitals are essentially going into war footing. Be careful, don't get too nuts mountain biking, because you're not getting fixed for maybe months.

Donation by order of gov. The video of him on the news is pretty pathetic. His pause when asked if sorry was longer than it took the stock market to halt this morning.

AC had her knee replaced Jan. 22, holy crap did we time that perfectly. But, yes, you should definitely reconsider participating in trauma-factory activities for the time being.

I still have some hope that we can get this under control, but all these dumbfucks out there partying have got to stop.
Sorry man. I just dropped off supplies to my 86 year old mom with heart issues and many other issues, and I am trying to figure out a plan that doesn’t involve her catching this. I can’t figure it out. Depressing shit.

In response to powdork, I quickly deleted a post arguing hoarders should consider donating masks to their local hospitals because mask shortages for health care workers are real.

I deleted because calling for something that authorities and hospitals themselves might not want for reasons like the unknown provenance of any donated masks could be a bad idea.

But in all seriousness, there are already stories of hospitals attempting to sterilize and reuse respirators due to shortages.

If you think it's a good idea to hit the clubs and bars you see eye to eye with Devin Nunes. That should worry you.

    Chinese Rat Flu

Just got back from SLC. At work we are mostly business as usual. Self quarantine for international travel only. I have some misgivings going back right away, given airports, confirmed cases in PC (where I was most of last week), etc. particularly since I can do much of my work from home. The plan, however, is to go in tomorrow morning.
    focus.

My sister's cousin in law had to shut his practice over a week ago because his medical equipment supplier could not supply. All the supplies were manufactured in China. Any time they want to suspend any trade they got us by the balls.

Sound like the Canadian Health Care system.

This crisis should really help us to understand the benefits of the socialism.

The suspected case at my GF's workplace came back negative! Thank god, I was fearing the possibility of being quarantined for 2 weeks. They are still going to keep her isolated through the rest of the day just to see if anything changes, but it's good new for the remaining patients.

Nevertheless, their staff is now on high alert there. Visitation is still currently banned, and everyone entering now has to have their temperature taken at the door.

Are they testing it on the homeless? They can't even find the right kind of mice to test a vaccine on for another 6 weeks, so wtf are you talking about?

Well. It’s in the “pump drugs into people and see what happens” phase.

A good start but minimum of a 12 month until available

Quarantines and closures are moving fast.
    Or not fast enough.
Sticking your head in the sand and thinking this is no big deal is going to lead to a European situation like Italy's.

Some texts from relatives in France and the Netherlands.

[3/15, 2:29 PM] Rory: Hello P*****, Tomorrow our plans are to drive to granville , bringing M***** mom to N******* in Rennes on the way. Paris and suburbs will be in lockdown from tomorrow night on , with army controlling the roads. We’re expecting to be able to handle « quarantine « in Granville better than in an apt in Paris! So it goes in France ....

[3/16, 12:20 PM] Tomas : Seems like Paris will be rationed, as it was during ww2
[3/16, 12:21 PM] Tomas I hope the parisians are ready to eat pigeon!

Edit: Important to still keep a sense of humor to help you though tough times.

Oh, you want to talk about dreams?! Mine are generally on a pretty grand, epic cinematic scale, with themes of inescapable impending death, to the point where my doctor has suggested medication that prevents dreaming..

Last night, after spending too much time reading about this outbreak, I dreamt myself along with loved ones were trapped in a large building being chased and attacked by caronavirus victims that had turned into invincible zombies.

At one point I found my family, and in a group huddle were we discussed how we were going to escape I learned that my mother had surgically removed all of our stomachs, which explains some undiagnosed stomach issues I have in real life. Another wave of virus zombies attacked us, killing most of us one by one. Some of us eventually escaped the building, only to be picked off by 'government' snipers waiting outside for us.

Pretty easy to understand the 'being attacked by zombies' symbolism but the stomach part really messed with my morning.

If you are a rambling, gambling man, the casinos at Ground Zero are open for business. High Stakes gambling for all.

Another swing and a miss. Your BA is around 240. Descent fielder, but you would be batting last in the order chief.
