played the back 9 first in 80 minutes cuz it was wide open. made the turn to the front and got stuck behind the slowest 3some on planet earth and only made it through 7 before i had to go pick up the boy.

49 on the back, 37 through 7 on the front. struck the ball a little better today but my putter let me down several times. 7 3putts. almost all pounding the ball a mile past the hole.

honestly, i don't feel too bad with 50, 50, 49 after being out for 2 months. my shoulder/clavicle, sternum/pec is still not right but it doesn't appear to be getting worse playing 3 days in a row.

I played for a mile with a 5 wood in 50 deg sun. Hitting it solid. Stopped to chat with Scotty who was picking up branches and checking the gopher traps. He told me he has tried everything. Poison, smoke, sound, water. Even poison fake worms. He said the best method he ever saw was tripped box trap that when tripped fired a 20 gauge shotgun shell into the critter. Caddy Shack was a reality show. Can't make this up.

Want one? I'll bet Scottie could catch a live one for you.

Played for 2 miles today with the 5 wood. Still hitting it solid. Today I concentrated on correct posture and increasing club head speed by swinging slower.

Greenside bunker is now a practice fairway trap. Elk poop.

Punched 2 for 2 through the small opening 20 yds away and over to the next tee.

Heading to the Phoenix Open this weekend, always a good time!

I've learned to avoid Saturday at all costs, Sunday is the day to go with the Super Bowl knocking down ticket prices and crowds.

    Sounds like a smart plan.

Nutmegchoi, I asked Scottie about the possibility of getting a small live one. No chance. His traps have a 100% kill rate. 8 hours a day outside talking to people while picking up debris at your own pace and waging war with gophers. Sound like a job I would take to.

    Scottie is a cool dude.

I'm sorry if I upset you. Please don't hate Scottie any more that the Orkin man who would kill the cockroaches in your house. Scottie told me that he has tried everything humane with zero success. He is a pro. Maintaining a modern golf course with all the water and fertilizers is the perfect enviornment for grubs and worms. Gopher food. Killing the food source with toxins is the only way to have a course without the gophers. Not an option. This is damage by one gopher in 24 hours. What club would you play if the pin was directly ahead? What club would you play for the same shot tomorrow with twice as many mounds? BTW, interesting to note that there are no gopher holes on the green because there are no grubs/worms as they are controlled with poisons. Good news? is that the watering of the course has stopped, it will be a park with frisbee golf without fairways or greens cut artificially low. 10,000 grubs and worms will become starving refugees.

    I get it.
I just don’t like killing anything.
Often I wish I could be a vegetarian.
But why cows are so delicious???

    Fore! Who's playing golf, yo-

    48F and everybody’s out.
Took 2.5 hours to play 9 hole.
Made a birdie at par 5 so that was nice.
Gave up playing 18 and came home after 9.

39-50 the other day without losing a ball, I need to go spend some serious time at the putting green.

FYI, our a la carte pricing for Bandon was:

$125 for first round of golf; $75 replay
$120/night + tax (dbl occupancy) at The Inn

So that would be $360+ tax room and $375 golf. $735 lodging and golf.

Breakfast sandwiches that come with a banana are $8. Dinners were $40-80. Went to Bandon Brewing in town one night and had pizza and beer (cheap).

Too wet out so practiced today.

    8 Iron.

    5 Hybrid.

    Driver.

It’s silly that my back swing is almost the same for different clubs.
    I gotta pay attention.
Also still need to rotate upper body more, slow down backswing, delay the club head and keep eye on the ball longer.
And why am I hitting so fat!!!
    So much to do!!

Ok... driver swing looks best of the three because you want a full swing. On the 8 and hybrid you are loose at the top. Need to firm up your wrists. Turn is fine. Don’t worry about that. You are hitting balls to fast. Step away from at least every other shot and work on your pre shot alignment.

To work on not hitting fat first, don’t hit off mats (especially the long grass part), but since that is not an option try two things. 1. Take your normal swing and alignment and move the ball back an inch or so. 2. Focus on hitting the back of the ball with the club face. Not the ground or bottom of ball. Strike the back of the ball with a downward blow.

As usual, that you so much for the feedback!
I’ll remember these and apply next time I play.

Going to play Kissena Park Golf Course tomorrow at noon.
It’s gonna be wet and ugly but at least I’ll get to hit off of the mat.

Just threw down for my first and hopefully last Scotty. Red X3 in 9/10 condition. Should be fun...
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.
