    Thought Zephyr was an express.

Lots of snow at KW. We are having an Isolation Event (new term they have for when both pass and Spur are closed - pretty cool, eh).

Winds are down a lot from last night. About to head outside and start digging. Gonna be an awesome two days.

Glad I brought the Kusala and skins. If the lifts don’t spin, I’ll meadow hike with my wife and kid on snow shoes.

    Still snowing. Huge drifts.

My kids bummed about Rose today as we got there Saturday in time for one run on Zephyr before it shut down. Drove over to the Rose side and did five runs on Lakeview. Good snow, froze are ass off on that slow ass chair.
Blizzard conditions on the drive home last night around 7 pm - stopped by the Galena park entrance to check on someone in the ditch in an old 4Runner (said tow truck was coming so they were OK). Maybe 6-7" accumulated in the driveway by then, and I had just snowblowed the driveway about 3:30 that afternoon.

We won't get out of our road until the neighbor with the tractor + blower attachment comes through anyway. It'll be 90 min of snow blowing just for me to clear our part of the driveway anyway.

On the plus side--a shovelful of this stuff won't weigh very much.

Cool, it happened last Monday-tuesday too, but I'd call it interlocked like LCC (Alta/Snowbird). I too had the Kusala great for the extra float. Enjoy if you can still hummering rain in the Bay area.

The slow-ass chair is Lakeview and it was brutal yesterday.

No way to Kirkwood, so headed to Heavenly. Looks like 10 AM start. Easy 24+ inches at the base, maybe more. Sadly 192 Protests are in the mail from Denver rn, guess Praxis Lhasa Fats will have to do

Dig out to the road. Deep in spots. Way deeper than the 19” over night reading. Top foot or so was super fluff. Almost not even there.

Gunbarrel looks like it will be about as good as it gets and deep enough to move in this stuff.

What's up with SAC? They say 1-2', but all of the resorts are reporting a lot more. Also, only Considerable after that much wind?

Seems strange. Definitely seems more than considerable at least based on the snow around the house. Much more wind up high...

I Don't think any of you can make an accurate avalanche prediction from your house. Just saying.

I’m gonna have to disagree with that. A lot of the time you can guess pretty accurately just based on how the snow scrapes off your car.

The distinction between considerable and high is a bit vague anyway IMO. Possible vs likely I guess, but that’s vague in itself.

Indeed. However, they went to High last night at 1900, then back down to Considerable this morning. They usually seem conservative to me, so this seems odd. Where do they get their snow totals, since it seems to be more than they are reporting even at lake level?

Plus, my house is in the middle of Hope Valley right now. We listened to and felt the wind howling all night. Maybe a bit more relevant than houses in town....

I could be wrong, but i didn't hear any bombing this morning at squaw.

    Maybe patrollers couldn't get here?

Well, I picked the wrong weekend to schedule my vasectomy.

    I'd be lying if I said a closed 431 didn't cause a little schadenfreude.

Some calm before the mega-storm Ta-stoke just to show there's no hard feelings

Maybe “considerable” is accurate, but if the forecast is partially based on drastically incorrect snowfall totals....

ETA: But glancing through the snow station data that SAC seems to use, linked in the report, their snow total data mostly matches the sac summary....
