Steeper is better. Some phone shots on the less steep stuff.

I can't really see south, but there is a ton of snow to the east above Hollister. And there is a lot of grassy slopes in that area. Anyone know anything about Peckham Ridge. I mapped it out, but no idea what the vegetation is like.

Snow line seems to be about 1500' this morning. There area near Mt. Ununhum and Bald Mountain looks like there is snow. Seems like it fell out of the trees since morning.

I have a window tomorrow, and really want to go hit something. I know I should be hiking these zones in summer so just in case something lie this happens. Road goes to top of Ununhum at just under 3500'. That zone east of Hollister and south of San Pedro has a Ridgeline at 3800'. It looks caked in that direction.

Looks like 10 isn't spinning at KW. Wondering if the top station is buried and they are having to hike over the ridge to dig it out. That would be a project. Anyone there today? Notice is 2 spun at all? Just gauging what they will get dug out in the next two days.

Bet those chair 6 laps are insanely fun. Looks like no one around.

I haven't read anything about Kirkwood but squaw was reporting 20' plus drifts. The fact that sierra could only get nob hill open speaks volumes.

I took my time today, cleared the driveway removed my car form the tree it had become one with and drove up to powderhouse. Got my boots on skins and realized i left my gloves on the heater after snowblowing. As disappointed as i've ever been in my life.

Just have to believe i was gonna end up in a tree well to somehow make the best of it.

Tied down by work this week, which is rare for me, but the FOMO isn't too bad looking at that extended forecast right now. Lots of small storms projected to come through and cold temps to preserve the snow - it's looking like a damn good February, at least potentially. Deep days are awesome but also excited for some days where it "only" snows several inches and there's not a bunch of hype.

Days like today are why you give up your cozy city life and make it work in the mountains.

Fun day on the mountain. Had to put some work in but it sure delivered. Chooo Chooo all aboard the Pow Town express. Almost to deep today but that also kept it fresh as you really had to keep it pinned to not bog down.

Had to leave the Cali lodge via bus to get a Gondy lap!

Still some snow snakes out hiding. One got me good today. Full front flip, sans 1 ski, ended up BURRIED and choking. Had to flail to undig myself. Luckily my ski was right next to me. Be safe.
I'm cool with this, as long as you Kirkwood Bro Brah's stay away from Heavenly when 88 closes- TahoeBc

Today all of Squaw was a no fall zone--"Help, I've fallen and i can't get up." (I didn't). Also a no release zone, unless you had powder cords. Lots of people looking for skis.

Where are you riding that you still hit something?

Gotta take a tip from TJ Burke and tighten them bindings all the way down so you don't "marker out" (can't find the video clip )

I was out on two different days last March with my 6 year old. Had to watch him super closely. It was so deep that if he took a header he got completely buried. I pulled him up by his ski after one wipe out. He had a blast. I did too, but was also a bit anxious.

Truckee schools--tell me why this was a snow day. Kids should have been in school instead of in the KT lift line.

It was like that today, many had beacons on and probe/shovel. The snow pack was very stable very little sluff, just frigging deep. It wasn’t the driest I’ve seen at the Wood, but good enough. It should only get better though this week with the cold temps.

    Mt. Sputnik, February 5, 2019

Mt. Sputnik Dawn Patrol. After shoveling snow the previous day and waking up to more snow overnight. I knew I would have to shovel more snow. I woke up early and headed out just after first daylight. First, I needed to follow Mt. Sputnik's policy: "If it is deep enough to shovel, it is deep enough to ski."

OFFICIAL TAHOE 18/19 STOKE, CONDITIONS, WEATHER THREAD

Thinking of heading out for the next cold dump this weekend. Time to get IKONIC like Colorado.

Am I fucking insane for weekend Squaw/Alpine storm chasing?
You should have been here yesterday!
