Also the Lancia vs Audi segment was excellent.

Yes, and yes. Great, great episodes!

And holy fucking shit, Nick Mason paid ~30k for his Ferrari 250 GTO (30 some years ago), currently valued at around $30,000,000?!?!?! Talk about a nice investment!

Oh, and who knew Keifer Sutherland could drive? (or is a Canuck)

    Disappointing finale "special"

Water down back of neck and falling off motorcycle is only funny a few times.

'Thanks for a great drive': Matt LeBlanc to leave Top Gear

Star will leave BBC show after 26th series to spend more time with family and friends

LeBlanc's narration is better suited to nature documentaries, and most of his stuff just doesn't flow, like he's always trying to act rather than speaking from feelings and experience.

Something just doesn't fit with those three. The interaction, and especially the ribbing feels contrived. I wouldn't say that LeBlanc is the weakest link, but maybe bringing somebody else in will improve the chemistry?

It's because they are trying to do what Clarkson / Hammond / May did. People forget those three completely changed the show from basically the British Motorweek into what it is. You can't just throw three dudes and have it be the same.

Top Gear needs a complete overhaul, unfortunately, its pretty much impossible to have lightning strike twice.

It definitely evolved, but switching to May in the second or third season helped significantly.

I don't completely agree though. The cinematography and production is unrivaled. They get the best cars and go to amazing places. The base is there, I think they just need to fine tune the presenters. I'm griping, but I watched season 24 and 25 (didn't bother with 23), and it was still entertaining.

Grand Tour is just as good in terms of production and the cars they get, plus has the original three whose chemistry is second to none across all of TV, let alone compared to Top Gear alone.

If you go back and rewatch earlier Top Gears from the Clarkson era, to the last ones, to Grand Tour, there really is little evolution other than they tried having May be the "Motorweek" style guy and quickly dropped it after season 3. Everything else is pretty much the exact same but not in HD.

Top Gear, regardless of whoever is writing for the hosts, or who the hosts are themselves, either needs to completely change, or will always be second to Grand Tour like 5th Gear was to Top Gear. Is that show even on still?

    Nope.

I thought LeBlanc has done a great job of rescuing TG from the initial post Clarkson disaster that Chris Evans created.

The Grand Tour has been hit and miss.. the Clarkson three are getting very stale and seem to be just phoning it in.

That's kind of what I'm talking about. They fake it better than anybody, they're hilarious, and they hate each other in ways that only old friends can. But, it's just less....exciting? IDK. I love the show, but the finale left me a little disappointed. It just seemed like three exceptionally grumpy old farts stuck together on an ill-fated road trip.

I'd vote Guy Martin (with subtitles)? He's definitely has charisma and his other tv work is way more entertaining than any Top Gear Part Deux!

Has guy Martin ever been featured? Not that I can remember, and a shame that they have not. They have only tested cars on Isle of Mann a little, never a segment on the race either. I enjoyed the Grand Tour segment on group b rally this past season. There must be some stores from the Isle of Mann also.

There's no way this is the last we'll see of those three.

    Season 3 airs on 11/18!

Pumped, looking forward to seeing a proper track test of the Mclaren Senna, and I sense a lot of off roading in this series which should be sweet.

My favorite Top Gear ever was the trip to Bolivia so excited to see what they come up with here.

Grand Tour is back... The McLaren Senna piece was good - fucking hell that thing is quick. Detroit muscle cars segment seemed like a rerun? At least they ditched the celebrity challenge. Some of the specials this season look like they could be fun.

Clarkson didn't appear quite as close to death as before?
