Ha! When our Sunday morning group, the Branch Managers, played 2 years ago in the winter, we got some 1/2" pcv tubing to tee the balls up with, we would have need a nail and a hammer to get a tee in the ground. Chipping becomes a completely different strategy with frozen ground

add- it may have been clear vinyl tubing for tees

seems like there are rain gloves for warm temps, and winter gloves mostly for cold and dry, but fewer choices for cold and wet. i don't normally use a glove anyway and liberally use handwarmers so as long as i can grip in wet and they don't fall apart after 5 rounds, they should be fine.

For me anything beyond standard glove thickness is super awkward.

I hate when I have to go to double rain gloves when it gets bad. Feels like I'm wearing boxing gloves.

Those winter gloves are thicker than the rain gloves. I'd suggest handwarmers in pockets and thinner rain gloves

Played 9 holes with a 6 iron at my new free 10 hole practice range. Make lemonade when you get a lemon. Cups and flags are gone but the green still has a hole. Pared a few and had a 10' putt for bird that just slid past the hole. With all the twigs, bear and elk poop sprinkled over the greens, 6 iron was a good tool to putt with.

Looks awesome T! Don't neglect the short game practice when conditions are soft, if you can pitch/chip consistently in the slop you will be $ when conditions are prime. With all the snow basically gone and 45° this afternoon I thought about hitting a few in the woods behind house earlier.

way better than my swing, nmc! when we finally play you're going to have to give some strokes.

my shoulder/clavicle is in need of a chiro adjustment and rehab so i'm probably out until mid january but i did get my xmas present early and at 40% off! one year waterproof warranty so hopefully i will stay dry this winter. i don't care for the white but they were a killer deal and as long as they are waterproof i'm happy.

You could pose for golf trophies!! Glad you met your first goal. I practiced a little chipping in the garage last night myself.

Kicked out this balata out of the woods at my new practice facility. Stopped making them around 2000. Fresh cut grass, the sensual sound of natural Persimmon on natural rubber. thwomp. Memories.

I peeled the cover back for a look.

Xmas golf on the EC? Holy moly.

I've never touched a club here from Nov to March/April

Haven't picked up a set of clubs for ~15 years or so - but the bug is back - pulled trigger on some new M2 irons. Can't wait to get to the range soon.

Entering the winter, I told myself I am not going to play when it snows or snow covered.
    I’m not THAT crazy.

    Well.
    I’m that crazy.

Didn’t play 18 well so played another 9 after.
The whole course was empty and got to practice a lot.

Glad this one didn’t go in.
I want lots of witnesses when I ace for the first time.

Right. Hole in one doesn’t count without witness. I have two. One was alone and was was witnessed but didn’t get attest. It’s just one shot with some luck.

Alone on a golf course is a good place to be. Glad to see you out there. I got a 1 that was witnessed but didn't count. Back when drivers were made of wood and women could only play on Mondays, an Ace only counted if it happened in a round of 18 holes. Out for a few holes before dark and I hit a crappy bladed 7 iron that never got higher than 10'. One hopped into the hole so I was told. I was cursing and looking at the ground so I never saw it.

47F, partially cloudy and 20mph wind rolled in at 10th hole.
Dyker Beach Golf Course, Brooklyn, NY where Earl Woods picked up his golf bug while he was serving at Fort Hamilton.

Soup dumpling in Queens on the way back home was a big plus.
