Pictures. Love me some mn golf too. Wished I would have played more growing up there. I grew up pretty much right between those two courses.

I don’t know how accurate this swing speed is, but I’m a little disappointed mine seemed pretty slow??

Swing speed should be faster with 6 iron so something is wrong. Driver speed at 80 is good for you.

    I may fumbled it wrong?
I’ll keep that in mind and try driver.
This driving range at the course wasn’t allowing driver due to the short distance.

65 is too fast for a twenty GHIN with 8 iron. Slow it down and drop shots on the same spot at about 100 yards.

Take laser to site your distance.

    Yeah, you are right.
    I don’t need full swing with 8.
Will work on accuracy rather than the distance.

It's maybe just a difference in phrases, but in my hack opinion, you do want a full swing with your 8i, and every other club in your bag. (Except maybe your 60* wedge, i personally hate the risk/reward of a full swing with that, would rather do a half swing with the 50). But yes, working on control vs distance is smart. Consistency of distances is more important that hitting them a mile.

Full swing for me up until 9 iron. All wedges I try to shorten it up a bit.

It's amazing how much a small error can cost you on the course

Last night I caught a bit of a flier from 70 yds with back pin.

Went 75 yds and bounced a mile into trees.

Easy par...good chance at birdie quickly turned into double bogey
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

It's all about getting your balls in a hole. Try using your hips more.

Outside 10 ft start lagging them. If you can eliminate just 1-2 3 putts per round its huge.

Golf, the game that keeps on giving. Wouldn't it be great to actually have a course management game? This was always my dream, but.....nope

I play so that my worst possible score is bogey. My average score is around 80 with a pretty consistent -4 GHIN.

I almost always play from a longer distance on my tee shots to avoid penalty strokes and also error on conservative approach shots.

I have to say it’s a lot of work playing like that because a couple bad shots can really trash a round. But, I enjoy the grind as much as anything.

Course management is the easy part. I can control my club and shot selection

I keep the driver in the bag if there's any serious trouble and I can get to 160-180 out with other clubs

I have to play white tees in my leagues and I hit 4 iron stingers on most holes and still hitting wedge..maybe 8 iron at the most...on approaches

Right. Typically I play back tees so most of my approach shots are 6 iron through hybrids. For me, a successful long approach shot to a par 4 is the essence of the game.

My go to strategy used to be bomb and gouge. Then I stopped using my driver and I probably shaved off at least 3 strokes. I have been hitting my 3 wood pretty good these days, probably about 265 avg, but as low as 250 and up to 300 depending on elevation change, wind, firmness of fairway (*higher altitude golf). Haven’t taken the driver out of the bag yet but seriously thinkin about it. Contemplating ditching driver and 5 wood and adding a driving iron and lofty hybrid.
