Oh, this one is scammy? Gotcha Chief. I am not looking to buy. I prefer to have my money earn money. But thought it was interesting. This is how VHS became the standard despite being inferior.

Verge did go from about 3 cents to 10 within the last month. So I am sure some people made money. But I'm not going anywhere near it.

Back when most people got porn via video tape, paying for it was a lot more understandable. Why anyone pays for porn now is beyond me.

This certainly seems like a dying market in its final days.

Yeah sux...terrible time to launch the FKNA coin.

Nice to see doubling of coins over the past little while. Pay for new ski gear purchases this spring. No new lambo though.

The FKNA coin launch is gonna need a heavyweight or two.....like Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolata ala Pulp Fiction.

I've said it before. I believe the underlying blockchain technology has some uses, just not as a currency.

It's still a niche market, like mobile development used to be, web development before/during the Dot.com boom, etc.

But blockchain only works if you incentivize people to use their computers as nodes on the distributed network. And that means you have to give them something in exchange. Thus rewarding miners with a shot at coins. So by design, it’s some sort of weird currency.

I don’t see how you separate blockchain from a monetary reward system. Why would anyone bother to use energy otherwise?

Tracking. Supply chain management. Call it "internal" blockchain.

There are so many other algorithms out there if you don't require hardness to Sybil attacks or Byzantine consensus. It would be a waste of energy to run an "internal" blockchain with distributed consensus. Not to mention slow.

    Here's my take:

As we know it today blockchain is a load of shit. It won't replace currencies any time soon. There are a lot of problems.

But it is a super awesome toy idea that actually works - and that's pretty cool. I think there is so much talent going into it because there is an opportunity for money, but also because late stage capitalism is a big fuck you to the average person. Especially the way we see it as Millennials. Of course now everyone in crypto believes they are an economic prodigy.

Regardless, I think the work going into distributed consensus is pretty neat from a technical standpoint. Time will tell what happens to all the coins, but I believe long run (n -> infinity) every coin out there today will go to zero. All have significant problems that will prevent them from being actually useful as a currency.

IBM isn't invesitng tons of money in blockchain to make coins..think about that. Hell they are running commercials for it. It's a better end to end "ledger" system for inventory control. The press is about the coins/$ not the tech so you hear little about all it's possible applications.

It all makes sense now. John Oliver brought the EOS FUD so he could fill his bags when it dropped to 4 bucks. It's on fire now above $15 and likely to keep pumping.
