To start, I appreciate you reaching out over the issue. This has definitely been escalated and discussed between moderators and a few of us here at TGR. Your ban isn't permanent, and your account will be reinstated in a week.

We understand your stance on the issue, and many of us share your opinion. Your account wasn't temporarily put on hold because of that, it was because of the amount of replies over the issue. The moderators felt in the best interest to put your account on hold temporarily to let this settle and decompress. We generally let anything fly free on our forums and on occasion, throttle people posting by blocking for a day or a week. We typically only permanently ban people on our forum who are spamming or only self promoting a business or a website.

To help you understand our stance, we don't as an organization support or promote this activity. However, because of the nature of our forums and our history with them, our hands are tied. If we had to moderate every post with nudity, sex, or violence, our forums wouldn't be what they are, and our moderation team would have way more work than they know what to do with.

Because of the escalation in particular, a moderator did reach out over the main post in question, and according to the person in question, there was consent. There is also a long standing history with the people(person) in question and our forums, and we are going to leave it be for now.

Again, we don't promote this activity as an organization. I personally suggest that you keep your stance the way it is, but maybe find more effective ways of approaching this issue as it is a much wider and further spread problem than just our forums. If someone reaches out to us and says their photo was used without consent, we will respond appropriately.

Thanks for you concern, and I wish there was more I could do.

Thanks for reaching out again via the TGR emails. You're back up and running.

You need to understand one thing though. Your temporary ban was not in any way, shape or form because of the point you were making, rather by the disruption to the boards by the sheer number of posts and threads. If that happens again, or any other roolz issue, the ban will be permanent. We are all hopeful that will not be an issue and that you again find some fun in interactions here on the boards.

Yeah. It is really fucking tiring. No argument with you there. It's fucking tiring when people troll the shit outta someone just to fuck with them because they're "uppity" or they don't like the cut of their jib or whatnot. It's even more tiring when otherwise milquetoast mods limit their condemnation to the focus of the trolls rather than the trolls themselves. I agree mg79 could probably chill out a bit, but so could the trolls and for that matter so could the mods.

I support Mtngirl's right to post what she wants. As I said earlier in the thread, I think she is wrong on some particulars, even if her general point needs to be considered in a way that doesn't get much attention around here.

That said, when I pointed out where she had clearly gone wrong (taking a joke seriously and concluding, apparently wrongly--further backed up by the inquiry of moderators, even though it was pretty clear in the original thread--that one photo in particular featured non-consensual nudity) she essentially accused me of endorsing behavior I had explicitly condemned. Throwing that kind of implied accusation around is pretty low. Her reading comprehension sucks, as does her ability to express herself. I really haven't followed all the drama that surrounds her and don't fully understand why others resent her so much, but if that's how she interacts with people I kind of get it.

Regardless, I think her banning was bullshit, and just proves the point about what moderation leads to. Mods can frame it however they like (a 'cooling off' period?? Seriously?), but we've already gone more than a few steps down the slippery slope that no one seemed to take seriously when moderation started here. I know the mods like to talk about how little moderation they do, but the fact is that it is done regularly and everyone is aware of that, which is why we have very noticeable arbitrary constraints on what may be posted where--arbitrary to the point of individual moderators making decisions based on nothing more than their own personal preferences. Not sure why people are OK with that, but that's where we have ended up.
