As Venezuela’s national currency loses value at a catastrophic rate, thousands have begun turning to the world of cryptocurrency to salvage what little value remains from their increasingly worthless bolivars. “This is not a matter of politics,” said Venezuelan John Villar. “This is a matter of survival.”

Both poor Venezuelan retirees and wealthy business leaders are converting their bolivars into bitcoins online and then using the digital currency to pay for everything from doctor appointments and honeymoons to motorcycles and artisanal beer. The transactions are relatively swift for anyone with a smartphone: Websites like LocalBitcoin and Colibit function as exchanges where Venezuelans can buy and sell bitcoins using a local bank account.

Now, I can't get the money out, and don't want to just walk away from it.
Im in the same Bitfinex boat. I took out a bunch but I still had funding going, but not enough to make withdrawals. I want my $2! It will be worth $80 in 6 months. Been scalping theses bounces, kind of fun and scary.

    Bitcoin....who's gotten into it?

16000 is daily support. Then 14000 to 8000. Big gap below 14000.

14k is near 33% retracement of the entire move.

CNBC wanted to get a quote from the CEO of $RIOT today, but no one could find him. This space is awesome.

Most, if not all, of these ancillary crypto trades are going to be exposed as frauds.

That all stabilized pretty quickly, not even a 20% drop. I wonder how many coinbase employees/family/friends made out like bandits today... I love that a small amount of BCH I got from leaving BTC on a phone wallet is now worth something.

Got a Nano S delivered today. Pretty cool little device! I'm still getting it set up and coins transferred, but I'm impressed so far. Really easy to use.

This will not end well for most people. If it doesn't happen before then, when the market corrects Bitcoin will come crashing down. If it doesn't drop more than 90% I will be pretty surprised. I think it could end up very close to zero (I just don't see why it wouldn't lose all value during a major correction). If we didn't already have tulips this would become the textbook example of that dynamic. Smart money is short.

So how are BCH and BTC different?

It caused a hell of a dip. I was driving and couldn't take advantage.

    Guess Ill buy some BCH.

I think a good amount of very untechnical people will be selling their BCH if they have been holding onto it since August and waiting strictly for Coinbase support. Actually would have been a good time to not know how to split your wallet 4 months ago and now end up with random free $3500 coins.

Either way, I'm still not impressed with BCH. As I have said before, the OGs will always be with BTC.
