She's a size 1, which fully collapses the trekker. They look like they expand to fit 4-5 sizes bigger. They were spendy. I kept waiting for some kind of sale or something to appear on eBay, but in the end I bit the bullet and picked them up from skimo.co for $150. Here's a little vid of the day:

$150 is good value for the fun. Any way you can get your kid out there is worth it.

Owen got out on his new Barons yesterday.

wow. those actually look pretty decent and more user friendly than these (which was how i transitioned from booting). they almost cured me of skiing the backcountry

Good kid stoke! That "mini-tour" is a major accomplishment for the majority of the adults who tackle it, much less a youth on Alpine Day Wreckers...

Skinned from the car at 7250' and 7500' trailheads locally this weekend. Not bad for mid-May...

    Great TR as always, AKbruin!

I can add to yours & mikey B's 'kids around Tahoe' stoke with a report from Sunrise bowl on Sat (shut up, I'm a wuss).

Gear-wise, you are both way ahead of me as well. My 9-yr old either boot- or snowshoes-up with me carrying her gear. Will look into those Contour things for next time. Just got her older sister some Marker Tours and can tell she is jealous!

Conditions were great for a few laps until we left around noon-ish. Somehow it never got too slushy. Followed a great day there with a snowy last chair ride up Scott on Sunday -> winter in May is awesome!

    Cheers,
    Paul

You gotta scale the vertical elevation to kid height --> 1200' for somebody four feet tall is closer to 2k for a full-sized human. Which is about all I accomplished this weekend:

The bowl by angora peak has some really really fun chutes:

Which I chickened out from doing because when we got to the top we couldn't figure out which ones went and which didn't (maybe a reason to bootpack your chute?) Still beautiful and fun on the way down

Yeah my buddies are coming down to Squaw this Friday from Idaho.. I told them to bring their passes to get the discount. I was just wondering if anyone had any better deals they were trying to get rid of. But I think that pass holder discount is the cheapest option out there

Looking like a warm weekend coming up. What are chances for good freeze/thaw cycles. Forecasts not looking encouraging...

We are jongs in the ways of living with cars, so any help is appreciated.
Got a $66 ticket, in Oakland, street cleaning day.
But car license# on Citation is one letter wrong, and says "VIN not visible".
Our# starts 4LF...., but on ticket has 4LE....

What do you think? Are we home-free, or should we prolly pay up?

Pay it. Not worth the extra hassle if they make it a problem.

    Depends on your karma philosophy.
No "extra hassle" I can think of submitting an appeal - if they reject the appeal, you pay the original amount cited. And I expect dismissal if the citation has incorrect license + missing VIN, since there's a lack of evidence.
But, if you were, hypothetically, in violation of the parking restriction, well that's your personal choice about trying to "cheat" your way out of it ... hypothetically.

MAKE TAHOE DEEP AGAIN ~ 2016/17 OFISHUL SNOW/FOOD/WHINE & STOKE THREAD

Hmm if the number doesn't match your plate not sure there is even a need to protest it. Since that number isn't registered to you, in theory you can't be penalized for ignoring it since any follow up will be sent to the owner of the misidentified plate. But karma. Sort of.

I don't associate Karma with bullshit parking tickets, especially in the east bay.

Street cleaning... get the fuck out of here. This is just another way to make up for not taxing the wealthy properly anymore.

I don't know if that is cheating if you submit an appeal. You are well within the law. Is there a moral basis for following parking laws? I guess that might hold true if you are parked in a handicap spot, but making a mistake that requires the street sweeper to by pass a twenty foot section of curb does not seem to have a moral value. You broke a law, but the citing officer did not hold up their end of the deal and complete the paperwork properly.

Actually I think now protesting it is actually worse as the only way you have the ticket is if it was placed in your car. It would likely be dismissed for the wrong license number but in a sense your admitting it is indeed you ticket by virtue of even having it. I say ignore it until if and when you get something in the mail. Otherwise you're rattling a can of dead worms
