Playing it by ear, if Homewood doesn't have power by noon tomorrow, I'll delay the trip by a day...not worth it with an 8 month old. Here's the link I've been using:

Prob with the heave is hard to find the goods without someone to show you.
KW could be ready to go at 9 w 6 and 10. They've had a full day to dig out and do control work *if enough employees got there. Parking may even be in good shape with 88 closed all day makes it easy to plow. KInda surprised caltrans didn't get the pass open by now. 50/89 must have been a mess. Really surprised if it doesn't open overnight.
10/01/2012 Site was upgraded to 300 baud.
No power, no turns, NO BUENO! Sitting here in the dark in Galena, skunked for the last four days. Biggest storm cycle in how many years, and I'm not skiing. Latest from NV Energy map is 12:45 a.m. for the lights to come back on. Its nothing compared to what you guys are getting up high, but for Galena, it dumped.
I was able to power out of the driveway late this afternoon. Crazy thing is that 2.5 miles down the road at the intersection of Whites Creek and MRH you couldn't even tell it snowed, sides of the road are brown and it was all rain. Rose, Alpine and Squaw have already called it for Thursday. Got a text from my bro in Mammoth, "Skiing was super fun today and super deep." That's all I need to know. Dawn patrol is in effect. Plan is to ski Thursday & Friday before record breaking crowds of MLK hit. Fingers crossed.

Now that I have power back at the house, does anyone want to talk about the long rage GFS again?
Do not feel like the Lone Ranger, not many up here have been skiing. Sunday, was sandbags and drainage control. Monday was removing the sand bags, with some snow blowing and shoveling. Tuesday was snow blowing and shoveling and pulling the neighbors car out of the snow bank; then in the afternoon, it was fire up the generator time, with some snow blowing and shoveling.
Wednesday was snow blowing and shoveling and admiring the 5-6 ft berm T.C.P.U.D. put at the end of the my driveway, it was truly special, combinded with gassing the generator and keeping the house stocked with firewood. There may have been some drinking involved at various times.
Looks like the mountain will open just in time for the Prius crowd to get their "powder" fix.
Fwiw, dude who picked up the phone at Kirkwood said they dont anticipate 88 opening until the afternoon.
I was wondering how coverage would be touring up White's creek canyon (or that area in general) to access some seldom skied tree lines way up in there. Seems like a great time to hit up some areas that never usually fill in. Anyone ever tour up Jones creek?
Funny, how I thought I was gonna be bummed being on the couch all week nursing my back and it's actually been the best week possible. I've never seen Squaw/Alpine shut down for 5 days in a row.
Heav. No new lifts
88 still closed
Might make getting out to KW kind of hard.
From the cam: Looks like they have the base of 5/6 ready to go for today. Looks like it is dumping up there again too.
Another 8-12" of blower fell overnight at 7,500'. So yesterday's tracks may be filled in. Heave claiming 20" but that's a stretch. I'm curious where they do their snow measurements. Looks like another day skinning up the closed side.
Just to provide some perspective, I heard this morning from a pretty reliable source that the backside and Lookout mountain at Northstar may not open until Saturday. So you can imagine what they're dealing with at Squaw, Alpine and Kirkwood.
Waiting for a new pair of skis and skins to show up at my door before I can hit the road for Truckee. Come on FedEx! (Still in denial but I'm slowly accepting the reality that instead of a delivery around 11 am or noon they'll probably show up at 5pm, because of course)
Looks like Roundhouse opened even though the website now says 12:00 opening.
Guesses for KT?
I'm going with 12:30 actual opening
Like I told my last wife, I never drive faster than I can see, besides it's all in the reflexes.
No way KT opens today. Maybe 12:30 tomorrow.
