Yeah, I'm not sure moving to JH is a solution to avoid climate change/warming. When it's good, it's great, but it can be just as equally terrible as anywhere else. Getting rained on at 9,000' at JH in January isn't something I'll forget....boooo. In 21 seasons, that still hasn't happened to me in CO. As for total snowfall, the last few years their mid-mountain numbers have been similar to A-Basin's. Look it up. http://bestsnow.net/

    Here's what JH's 57" to-date snowfall looks like:

Terrain wise, there is no comparison, but the idea that the snow is so much better, is certainly debatable. Not looking to start a pissing contest, but I won't hesitate to post the facts.

Gawd, I hope it snows tomorrow.

X2! Since we just look at Joel's forecast and bitch until February, this be a good change up from our normal routine

Yes, it's certainly well known that Jackson is super rad, this is true. If you're feeling bored in the state of Colorado, you're doing it wrong.

CB and Telluride (and maybe even silverton) have better terrain than Jackson

Agree with this. Or at least it's on par.

And T-Ride is a way more scenic and cool town than Jackson imo.

Hoping for a good dump tonight/tomorrow. I'm sick of looking at brown mountains.

Well, we're probably looking at 8" on top of Vail and Breck. My guess is 4" at the base.

Problem is that it's going to warm right up to 50F and sunny the next day and melt.

The key thing about Jackson is thinking about the snowpack overall. They get more moisture in their snow generally which allows for a few things. A) a generally more stable snowpack allowing for skiing cool shit mid winter. B) it does a better job of base building which allows for skiing steep rocky faces (something that DOES NOT happen every year in CB and telluride).

Sure it can rain there in January, but it's rare, and they sure as shit get their fair share of blower. It's not coastal but it's continental, pretty good middle ground if you ask me.

On second thought, the snow in Jackson sucks, don't go there...

It was super snowy in Oct (record breaking I belv for Oct's) but it was all mid-mountain and higher.
someone even skied the gut of Glory off Teton pass in Oct! I was still riding my bike in the valley then though.

    some flakes falling tonight- FINALLY!

Yup, a lot of years it can be pretty late in the season before CB has the NF open. CB is sunshine and no crowds, and hope for a one in ten year seasons.

North Face / Glades aren't too challenging to open.
Spellbound / Phoenix / Third / Teo2 are the tricky ones.

I wasn't saying Jackson sucks by any stretch. All three resorts have badass terrain...I was just being contrary to remind people that Colorado isn't just the front range...

I'm officially calling this storm a dud. Very weak, total loser of a storm. We'll still be riding bikes in February this season folks.

A couple of quick bursts of snow here in the upper RFV makes it look at least seasonal.
