Does anybody remember the Oct. temps for some of those seasons? I don't remember ever having an Oct. this miserable for temps out east on the plains.

Joel took a look at a snotel site's data going back almost 40 years... in the years we had no-little snow there was equal chance of below, at, above average.

Given that, I'm in the same place as Goldenboy... at least I can still ride my bike without driving all the way to Palisade/GJ/Fruita/Mack/Moab

Whatever happens this winter, I'm just stoked that for now it's awesome riding conditions, instead of the usual crap skiing crap biking conditions usually found at this time of year.
Agreed...I will not complain about high alpine riding in late October. Crossing fingers the season sets up well.

Yeah, I took my last final at CU on the 19th, blew off graduation, and caught a rope drop into phoenix/spellbound during another storm cycle on the 21st. Been here more or less ever since...

Yep, I was there. That Saturday at CB was also the last time I alpined; I teled on Sunday and never looked back. And holy shit yes that was crazy..

As far as predicting the weather goes, the other day it was predicted that there was 0% chance of rain. It rained twice.

How do you fuck it up that badly and still have a job? How is that computer not just thrown out the window and start over from scratch?

I don't believe any predictions until they actually happen anymore. And don't even get me started on the farmer's almanac-s.

    Oi...I HATE this graphic.
It's just a map of confidence.
In Northern CO, if temperatures are 1 degree above average, and we get 1" of snow less than usual, this thing is correct.

Got some t shirt skiing in at the Basin and some decent moguls were forming for some aerial fun. The weather is ridiculously nice this fall.

The Birds of Prey are a month away - has there been any snowmaking progress or are they beginning to panic?

I've been keeping my eye out for updates, but no news on contingency plans as of yet. Haven't been up there recently, but temps are too damn high to blow I would think.
