Thought I'd check out the snow conditions/levels on this break day, booted up the trail toward Maggies about 15 minutes before switching to skinning (you can ski from the old/new trail intersection). Snow was supportable in some places but deep and wet in others, not particularly good turning, but I was pleasantly surprised at the coverage, here's a look at the Kalmia region:Click image for larger version.

On April 3, continuous snow was less than a five minute shwack from the end of the pavement in the housing tract.

The shwack out from Cathedral Bowl was heinous.

Not going to make it to KW today. Doesn't seem worth the $$. Maybe in s few days.

What? You don't like dust on crust?

Actually skiing much better than expected. Just scored perfect porn in Pali.

Good day with the son and buddy. Sun is out. Spring pow.

KW buddy pass was around $70, mid-season on a weekend. I don't know if there are different levels of buddy passes.

From what I understand there is not. Same price now as New Year's Day.

I'll be around Sunday with the family. Looking forward to my first day of spring conditions. My son will wonder where all his layers went.

Left work after half a day and got to Rose just after 1:00 p.m. Glad I didn't get there any earlier as it was just starting to soften in some spots. Temp was cold all day with a brisk North wind blowing. When the lifts closed at 4:00, the skiing was just getting good. Chutes never opened today. Ventured off the groomed once. Not good. Frozen death gnar.

    Life's better with this view.

Big warm up is on tap for this weekend, and with the cold temps the last two nights it could make for a good corn cycle the next few days. Back up tomorrow with an earlier arrival time scheduled.

Pat searching packs with high profile security at Kirkwood today. A bit odd. Snow was pretty good.

Yep, just like a baseball game.

Were they looking for booze or what? I feel like this has been discussed in this thread before (or previous versions) around closing day but can't remember for sure.
