Miga needs to be introduced to the doggie stoke thread. Such a cutie!
Pretty dern good corn today on CP. Skied two laps dropping at about 11:15 and then again around 12:30. Only the last bit of what I skied back down towards 88 was sloppy but at that point I was just heading out anyhow. Sounds like some folks found it to be a bit soft but in my opinion it was very nice.
Were you on Stevie with a female partner mr clever? If so, we talked briefly top of lap 2. While both runs were good, the more east facing solar side held the grade A
Tahoebjasurf- what was snowline on summer trail on tallacalacalaca?
Road was still gated, road bikes into the trail head and found continuous snow just below the west side of the top of the moraine. Was out at fallen leaf today looked like a big wet slide occurred in the gut of south bowl since we were there.

Rattlesnake still filled in??
Gracias
It's been years
Any good snow in p-pine or too off aspect?
The easy stuff off monument is really really good right now, so we stuck there for a couple laps. Looked like a big wet slide deposition coming out of that fun gully off porkys but have no ideal how far up it started.
Is it still possible to ski from the top of Freel down to 89? I'm considering hitting it from heavenly tomorrow before the weather turns.
Whatsupdoc did it yesterday, think he got to 89 around 2:30. Maybe he will chime in on how much walking he did on the way out.
Yeah it's definitely possible. That's what I did. Got to the car at around 2:30 pm after taking Gunbarrel up at 9 am. I crossed 1 or 2 dirt/rock patches, each very short, while skiing down to the road on the S side of Freel. The S side of Freel is melting out quickly though. Creek crossing to get to the road was easy, plenty of places to cross. The road has about 10 short dirt patches that I just scooted across with skis still on. However the last 1/2 mile or so is almost all dirt. I brought shoes but didn't need them. The dirt walking isn't too bad at the end.
Nice! TahoeBC and WUD keeping the stoke going.
RT to 7/4 is in prime condition as are all the runs into Emigrant lake. Nice skiing with you, Jeremy.
Yesterday the ideal was to ride the fat bike down Red Lake peak then go back and ski it in corn but it was so warm it went from consolidated to mank in about an hour.
This is a long shot, but does anyone know the status of the kid who was Care-Flight'd out of Squaw on Tuesday? We watched him tumble from the top of the Corkscrew area on Granite Chief all the way down to the groomer (200-300? yards over Chamber Cliff). It was rough to witness but I'm hoping against hope that the prognosis is somewhat OK.
Sorry for the anti-stoke...
Thanks for the Freel info everyone. Was going out solo and didn't want to risk hitchhiking taking too long so I approached from Luther Pass Road. Lots of hiking and skinning but the snow was great. Getting out is more annoying than getting in really.
I also went to Red Lakes Peak yesterday. I skied a short pitch first thing (looker's right as you're climbing) before heading up to the summit and had some of the best smoovest corn of my life.
Then continued up and skied an untracked lane on the East side. Unfortunately, the reason it was untracked was that it wasn't continuous. Oops. Down climbed a bit and did the exit stage left back to the car.
First timer in the Tahoe backcountry and it won't be my last. Thanks to Mr. S. Clever for the hints on where to park the car.
Another practice video. This one from March 29, although I screwed up the title and it says 3/30. Oh well, not going to bother making the change today.
I think I found a better angle. Still thinking of angling even lower, but not sure. Still have the shake in the mount. Gerome, it is an old Contour (I like free things), so not a GoPro mount. Once I find the angle I like, a little epoxy in the gears should get rid of the shake.
Anyway, there is a fair amount of shake, as it was a 4" of blower on very firm spring crust with a high of 24F. I actually spent part of my day seeking out some lower angled terrain, as it was skiing far better. Never got my skis more than a few inches off the ground, as every landing was firm, needed to be steep and the acceleration was mind blowing. The next day I skied with my son and the conditions were way better, with 2 more inches and warming into the 30s with sun, softening up the crust below a bit.
Now you know why I'm still using my old setup...took so long to perfect the angle (to me anyway) that I don't want to mess with it. I have two GoPro Sessios ready to go but can't be bothered doing the trial and error in getting the best angle...especially since I average one day a week skiing, if that. For Contour, I use the low profile mount...but you also need your helmet nice and snug...trying to keep your head focused ahead and not too jerky helps as well.
PS. if its an OLD contour, like a ContourHD, the viewing angle is only 135 degrees instead of the current 170 degrees which makes a massive difference in the pov.
