Caples Lake sensor raintip shows just shy of an inch, all of it below freezing. The snow sensor there has some problems, but seems to confirm with 13 inches on a 5 inch base. With another foot in the forecast tonight, Coop might have trouble digging out his cuppa tomorrow.

Not much left after this last warm spell. Probably 4-6" in the shady aspects. Didn't get up high toward twin peaks, but looked like it held up a little better.

I think the snowstake cam at the wood warms up around 12-1am to melt off previous days snow. pointless tech for accurate snowfall amounts.

Drove over to SV to grab a sandwich. Still very much low tide, but next wave is forming on the Crest.

Nuthon, the Wood's snow stake is two sided. It flips over at 5 am or so.

Lots of activity at Kirkwood's base, sure looks like they getting ready for an early opening, even Heavenly cranked up the Dipper lift today, would be killer if they both opened this weekend.

Edit: Heavenly just announced it's opening on the 14th, sure Kirkwood will do the same

FWIW, both Heavenly and Northstar just announced that they have pushed their opening days up by a full week: November 14 (this coming Saturday).

I'm planning on KWood on Saturday... or if the ridiculous happens and they only open the other two, so be it. I assume Heavenly will be significantly better than N*.

That they announced Heave / N* first on all of their social media accounts, etc. could be a good thing. Let KW slide under the radar the way it normally does.

I heard a Rumor that Heavenly is opening Friday. Kirkwood would probably open Saturday. Vail cannot have them open the same day for publicity reasons.

We got 6-10" here in the south lake area as you go from 6-9k. Skied the NNE aspect of an unnamed peak. Mostly picking your way down looking for a safe place to turn. Still I got out in one piece and it was a joy to be skiing in the Tahoe basin again. Let's hear it for the c-c-c-cold!
