helll yesss!
another fantastic day out there today, though this one took a little waiting as day started cold.
kudos to k on another effective groomer run
last nite, maybe one nore tonite to shore up the bridge.
everything else still deep, bumplines flowing with lots of good skiers and several fine rippers out there today. and i'm talkin' to you radio ron!
dude was hammerin' !

and thanks to the whole kzone crew for the superb eats and drinks and fine festivities til the sun went down. took me 1-1/2hrs to actually leave after i started leaving;0]

bike race tomorrow. cars to lot til 2pm.

days when the top of every bump, was begging you to smash it!
more face shots today than a week in UT!
old guy knees were on it, this weekend.
ran into Bucket and Powbmps at the end of my day, skied with Bucket, but ran into Powbmps on my out.
Bucket was getting after it!

Quick Slackfest update:

After the record setting deep freeze yesterday temperatures moderated today to make for some great late season skiing. The winds remained persistent on exposed ridges (when I parked, my car was shaking so ferociously I was worried I would have to look for it in the Great Gulf at the end of the day), but the Snow Fields were well protected and wind wasn't really a problem. The day started with less-than-optimal snow conditions as the 1" of new snow from two nights before had turned into sticky glop - skier traffic quickly scraped that off to make way for Grade A corn. Partly cloudy skies moderated sun exposure and preserved the snow in fantastic condition.

Rode to the top with Bucket, took two turns and promptly ate shit. Took me about 20 minutes to gimp to the bottom. Definitely tore something in my left calf. Not quite the last run I was looking for.

oh crap! i thought you had gotten ahead of us as we were taking ot a wee slow. 3rd day on the big bumps. sorry for getting split up/not assisting!

Dude, what's happening with you this spring? Hope you are not too wrecked.
I was close to hitting K yesterday until the ride ride call came in. Spun around in Denny, the Driven One and I lost Surface for an hour due to the many turns. Moved an annoying blowdown and cleared a few sticks on Red Army. Fucking mosquitos are thick right now. Gonna get muggy this week.

Nice to see folks out making turns, meet new friends and hobnob with old friends. Conditions were short of warm bluebird, but the snow was excellent.

The Annual Mount Washington Memorial Day BBQ and Slackfest is the last hurrah for my season. A great, three-day weekend of skiing is the usual and this year was no exception.

As sometimes happens the road was closed on Saturday, so no slacking...but hiking to nab some turns beneath the Duchess and Empress cliff band. The snow was perfect peelaway, but the falling ice made it a one and done. Walking about in the Hillman's Highway landslide was amazing. The power of the land always inspires me. I spotted what looked like an easy swhack just off the landslide and descended to reach it. Some crawling was involved, but in 6 minutes from the landslide's edge I was kicking steps into good corn snow. Just halfway up Lower Snowfield, the ice started coming down. Mostly harmless tiny things but some serving platter sized. Hauled ass up to the shelter of a bush covered rock to think a bit. Decided on the traversing descent out of the firing line as bigger pieces were threatening to cut loose. Made some turns so it counts.

Sunday was full-on Slacking, occasionally folks were all layered up, but when the sun came out those layers were doffed PDQ. About 90-100 people made turns while I was there.

Monday was a warmer, but less sunny day. Maybe 40-45 folks made turns. The 10th Mountain Memorial Day Slalom was run safely; some skiers really hit it and others mosied through. It's not a race, just a way to remember.

2015 Slackfest started when the Road opened over a week ago and, due to the 440 feet of straight vertical and 510 feet of maximum vert (skier's right through the rock slalom at 2/3 height), slackfest will continue for at least another 10 days.

I'm happy to be back at the OG spot shredding concrete for the next few months.

Montreal beach when the weather gets warm is pretty hard to beat.

Looks amazingly intact. Reports came over to the Easties of 900-1000 feet and very good width in Airplane Gully. Your pix prove the width.

The choke points will probably show up by the 30th, but maybe 700-800 feet of vert might still be there. At my house that Honey Do List comes into force the day after Memorial Day....sigh.

Wolfelot, the coverage in airplane went to the lake, and the hike out did not show any signs of the usual sketchy undermining you typically find this late in the season.. I think it'll hold on for at least a couple more weeks, if not longer.

I did not go over to see, but the reports brought over to the Easties claimed that it went well into the trees, which usually counts as "to the Lake". GG got plenty of snow and it stayed cold for a very long time.
