East wall was unskiable today. Every big firecracker set off a slide. That's why I was asking.

how was Pali skiing? Copper was a tad interesting though Union Peak was skiing pretty well. tops of some of the bumps were sticking out but could be pretty easily avoided. most all else on the mountain was real crusty underneath. hopefully we get some more.

Yes - Marmot/Rock Chutes was hikable. So was everything south of Wild Child, which is closed b/c of that huge slide a few weeks ago.
Jelly Roll area was really really good bc of windloading. Hit the whiteroom a couple times going down that and it was becoming windbuffed/filled in again when I left. Tomorrow should be good again up there.

Conditions were nice on north facing slopes up high. The wind is buffing things. Crowds are lightening.

You don't see this one every day, especially in March

    NOAA - LL pass
Snow showers likely, mainly between 9am and 3pm. Some thunder is also possible. Cloudy, with a temperature rising to near 22 by 8am, then falling to around 5 during the remainder of the day. Wind chill values as low as -13. Blustery, with a west northwest wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Classic spring powder day, that was awesome. I guess everyone is over it? We were still finding untracked lines with ease at 12:45pm

If this continues into the night, I would suggest a sick or personal day tomorrow. It won't be there Saturday. Back to sunshine and crowds, then.

Nope unfortunately. Hopefully it will turn up before the next storm. Wasted one of the better days of the year

I've got a couple days off next week and am thinking about heading to Aspen for Thursday and Friday April 2 and 3rd. It's been exactly 30 years since I did Aspen in early April so seems like a good time to head back over but it looks way warm next week so keeping my options open and planning to sleep in my car in the woods if it makes it that far. That said I don't have a collective pass so if anybody has any leftover vouchers or tickets to sell me or coupons or ways to get a better deal than 119 per day to ski slush hit me with a pm.

Shredhead you going to be around or are you in flyover country for the summer?

Okay too bad. It'd been cool to take some turns. Yeah I'm watching the heat. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Like Melancholia.

Put a fork in it. Ski season done. I predict 1-2 storms in April with no more than 6". Dust on crust basically and will melt out.

Might as well start hiking the 14ers if you haven't started already.

Maybe. But heard the same thing 2 weeks ago and the day 2 storm last week was as good as anything we've had all year in the northern mountains.

It'll snow again, but the tide is getting low. Sad to see emerald lake melting out in late March. That's pretty damn early, another couple weeks of warm and some of the lower trails will start melting out.
