Nice work by city photogs! Some of those formations of ice and of snow are way into the awesome range.

D-Roc, have you considered the ice climbing opportunities in Beantown?

^ ^ ^ was hoping someone would make that joke. Also note how on that route, someone chopped a few icicles from the base of that thing.

And the Waldo clearing snow from a window is doing so under some pretty treacherous shit. (In that shot i was going for that bottleman composition)

Last year i got grazed by a relatively small one (arm sized rather than leg or human sized) and needed stitches. Frustrating ER visit. Best believe my eyes are up when I'm walking near these poorly/un cleared buildings.

Hope you had your bacon on for those pics, those would be some gnar cornices to pole whack. I saw some sweet potential ice routes in Fort Point yesterday too. Gonna be a huge mess if it rains Sunday.

Fark another weekend storm, why did the spot welds holding my clutch to firewall have to break, maybe I should just risk not being able to shift into gear.

Unfortunately I could not catch this shot until AFTER the BottleWoman skied around the downed tree. I am a disappointment, I know.

Ms. Bottle gets today's pic of the day. The high alps of da belt look prime! Maybe one of these days I'll get over my northerly bias and come down for a guided tour.

I missed the refresher today but cleared the schedule for tomorrow to step in to the freezer.

Pattern is promising for the next few weeks, 1st week in March has my early attention.

    Very nice shots BassBone.

That's somewhat disappointing but I'm not sure I can navigate all the bramble at such high altitude so slower might be better!

Anybody else ski Cannon today? It started off pretty great, then evolved into perhaps my best day on snow - ever.

Balmy 19*, dead calm no wind to start, with even a bit of sunshine coming through. Plus the mountain beat snowfall forecasts by at least a couple inches. Profile actually had snow on it. A pristine boot-high layer of powder. I've never seen such pleasant conditions on the upper mountain.

Hooked up with a local and we found ourselves in some glades with at least 3+ storms worth of fresh in there. Deepest snow I have ever skied. I could more than bury my poles vertically in it. By 2:30 the snow picked back up, and the temperature dropped back down, leaving our final laps through the trees with another 2" (not that we needed it) and my gloves frozen solid.

All this was totally unexpected - Cannon today blew my highest hopes clear off the mountain. Awesome day.

Was planning to hit Cannon today, but worked instead. Clearly I made the right call...

Jason at Worth just posted this on Epic. I was never able to get in their skis, but I liked what they were trying to accomplish. I hope they can figure something out.

    Hi all,

We appreciate the interest in what is happening at Worth. The fire was a monumental change in our fortunes (we got almost all of our sales from demos), but it was not the only factor affecting us. Following the fire, we also learned that Praxis was no longer able to run production for us. This necessitated a search for a new production partner. We found an option with a facility in Quebec, where we ran the first test batch of Bootleggers last spring for evaluation. We were generally pleased with the results, though they were not exactly what we were getting from Praxis. However, we now face a challenge with meeting the minimum production requirements that this facility has in order to build for production, as well as tens of thousands of dollars in new tooling costs to set up to build the sizes and models in our line (each size of each model costs over $1000 in tooling and set-up, before you even build skis).

We do not currently have any demos, or new product in stock. Skihaus of Vermont is completely sold out, and Outdoor Gear Exchange has one or two pair left. I, personally, own one pair of our skis - the only pair of MegaGeorges in existence - which I do send out with folks from time to time. They are the best, most ideal skis for me I have ever owned, so I do twinge just a little with the knowledge that they are essentially irreplaceable..... :-)

We have, to date, undertaken this as more of a hobby, or side project than anything. All three of us have full time jobs that support our families, and to hang that up to chase building a ski brand is a substantial risk. At this point, we also find ourselves at a moment when, to grow the brand or, indeed, to keep it moving, it needs dedicated energy and attention. While we consider this, we are in a holding pattern, evaluating our ability to sink resources we don't readily have, along with finding a way to apply more energy and attention than we have already, to making it happen. Of course, there is also the very real factor that part of building a brand like this means spending days off driving, turning binding screws and standing under demo tents, instead of skiing with our kids. And, of course, we have spent far more than the business has brought in, out of our own pockets, to make it work. That's not a complaint, it goes with the territory. But will be a factor in our decision-making process.

I don't know yet where this will go. It has been really wonderful to be able to connect with fellow skiers, offer them a great product and share in their excitement. It has been especially gratifying to me to see how well received the designs have been. Folks who have tried our products had a great time on them, and there are few things better than seeing our work making fellow skiers have an even better time on the hill than they already were. Whether or not we are able to move forward, it is a source of real pride for me that we were able to build such a great brand and connect so well with so many in such a short time and with no resources. Skiing is a wonderful community to be a part of, and we truly enjoy contributing to it in our own way.

Where to go from here? Not sure. Maybe it means bringing on another partner who can pursue it as a full time gig. Maybe it needs to change hands to new ownership. Maybe we need to figure out how to fund our own production facility (!). Maybe it should wrap up. Maybe there are other options. It's hard to say at this point, but if folks are interested in being part of the evolution, feel free to contact me. I apologize for the novella, here, but I have always thought it was important to be as up front and transparent with our brand as possible.

Thanks, stay in touch, and shred on!

    Jason

Positive thoughts for Worth, sometimes things need to slow down before they can start up again.. the heartbeat seems to be there. the stoke fires are certainly burning hot!

Speaking of that here is an edit from the other day, no bindings!
