At least those first two storms put down an amazingly supportive base for this part of the country. The skiing has been great so far. Sit tight, everything will be better in two weeks.

    dont think so.

12/04/2014 - Seattle obliterates previous low temperature record - http://iceagenow.info/2014/12/seattl...rature-record/

CO may not be in the storm pattern it was last year to have record seasons all over, too early to say for sure; but there were nearly 9,000 record cold temps in the usa in November - http://iceagenow.info/2014/12/9000-d...mps-november/; the usa is going to have another record winter.

if a lot of snow comes with that is all up to the weather patterns, but its set up for record seasons somewhere in the usa.

A cold snap in Nov has nothing to do with current temps in Dec or future winter temps.

This is clearly the byproduct of 'Bama's resurgence to #1 and that they are a shoe in the for the playoffs. I do love, however, watching montanaskier slowly descend into the pits of butthurt despite efforts to convince us to the contrary.

Either way, there's something to bitch about (or be happy about) Bama winning? Snow Sucks. Snow's great? Bama loses to Auburn.

I hear Blue Sky is opening today, as is the Pali lift at A-Basin.

I'll be a wreck in 2 weeks if it's still 45 degrees everyday. But for now, I've been to busy at work and excited about this Bama run to be too worked up....but it's coming!

It can stay warm here for couple weeks, who cares most of us are busy in resort land. Let's start washing the cars and praying it will start snowing real hard on New Year's Eve continuing into January when many of us locals have more time to ride.

Pali face opened today. A little punchy, but prime mashed potatoes. Reminded me of the PNW. Hopped on some 191 Katanas for the first time. Killer mfing ski. Perfect for the conditions. Probably my new non-powder ski for sure. Bullshit they discontinued it.

The first three weeks of December are the slowest part of winter until April.

Bama won and low and behold the GFS forecast got worse and worse with each run. Now it looks like very little snow for the central and northern Colorado Mountains for the next 17 days. The front range could get some action and maybe the southern mountains during this timeframe. But nothing major. Otherwise the next few weeks are a complete bust and ski conditions are turning to sh!t with each day that passes. Looks like groomer time or wind buff for a long while.

Overall December looks like a write off. Shame.

    Crossing fingers I am wrong.

Vail was alright yesterday, but was pretty icy until after noon. Everything south facing is really thin and there will be a lot of exposed grass and dirt in the next week.

I'm headed to Central America for Christmas, so you can thank me if it snows hard from the 17th to the 28th.

    1. 90% of the people that post these days have zero idea about the whole Bama, weather deal. It was 5 years ago I cursed a season.

    2. Certainly a bad stretch but what can ya do? I railed groomers and bumps today and skied with my boy yesterday, both were pretty fun.

    3. The pattern will
Change, it always does at some point.

You have to admit, there is a hell of a correlation. The pattern is pretty much 100% overlap between Bama having a chance at winning the national championship and Colorado getting shafted.

2011 was the best year ever and Bama win the title. My deal with the devil was for 2009 only.

    Uhhhhhhhhh........................................ ..........No

Thats not what the data says.

Below is the Colorado Snowpack summary for water years 2011-2014 versus Average.

    - 2012 and 2013 Water Years are the two years below average - those correlate to NCAA Football seasons 2011 and 2012 which were both Bama championships.

    - That outlier way above average snow year? Water year 2011 (2010 NCAA) - who won the NCAA championship? Auburn, the Anti-Bama.
