Goddamn it's good to see all this snow. You guys rock.
I felt inspired on my way home from ESAW so I stopped by Bretton Woods for some laps before they opened the lift, and to try out the new rando race kit. Nothing like having the mountain to yourself (and by mountain, I mean WROD):
I fucking love skiing.

Nice day for a walk in the mountains

First -o- the year for me today. Out with my new Padawan [day 2 paramark] and his dad. Good to be on the hill again.

Saturday at Stowe actually had a neat vibe. People were there with sleds, someone built a booter, and there were lots of folks just wondering around on the snow. There were a shit ton of gapers too (good people watchin'). I wish I would have taken a hibachi and some lawn chairs and left the afternoon open for some chillin and grillin' in the sun.
Saturday was the last work day on the hill. Weasel, new, very tecnical. Was inspired by the amount of snow on Ferret and plannned to take a few laps on Sunday before returning home. We saw lots of Rocket tracks on our way back down, looked like folks had good times.
Arrived at the parking lot this morning to see the temp rising and already 41F....I went home instead. I hope somebody got some of that untracked!

The previously continuous 850' vertical on World Cup is now broken up?
Or was the 1300' vertical now on ... Noreaster?
(I'm thinking about going back there on Tuesday this week, then maybe again dawn patrol for Saturday opening day.)
That picture in the T4T Sunday BW TR is confusing -- that final pitch (to the extent that BW can be said to have any "pitch") had way more snow on it Saturday evening, and I thought they were going to try to make more snow down there later that night.

Fun day with Peruvian climbing Okemo and skiing some pretty variable conditions and yeah, pretty decent brews at Killarney as a reward. Here's a short vid of Peruvian on the upper part of the hill...definitely dust on crust and sketchy conditions so no way to rip it. Fun just the same...

Ah, okay makes sense.
So when I was there, World Cup coverage ended at the split with Chute (for 850' continuous).
Down to what trail junction does the Arrow coverage continue to?
(Looks like down to Lower Mountain road and then the lift would be 1673' so must be stopping somewhere before then.)

^^ man, looks like Murdochville went off this weekend! That place is pretty choice for snow. I can't wait to get back to Gaspesia
That just made my day.
So the cat opened yesterday but I couldn't make it..
I have tomorrow off and want to drive for some turns, is Sunday River the only spot spinning lifts?
Sorry I really should know this, I'm just swamped with family and work so unfortunately Winter hasn't been on my mind as much as it typically is through Oct and early Nov.![]()
Not sure on Noreaster and World Cup...only spied them from the road. Arrow coverage continued onto Lower Arrow to the point where the Mountain Road split with Village Run. Sketchy might be a good description of the coverage on Lower Arrow. It may not survive the warm temps today and tomorrow. We had to cross the road once and at least one more access trail, so the skiing below Rte 103 was not continuous. Rte 103 was also a portage. Our vert calculations were based on iPhone elevations so totals are + at best
Wildcat did not disappoint yesterday. more driving than skiing, but whatever. Decent t2b coverage - bottom half was warmed up enough to be really fun.
The G.P. is magical.
My buddy Félix is the one wearing the GoPro in that Mont Miller video - dude is stoked !! It's only his 3rd season skiing and I think he's ridden a chairlift once in his life
