    Cool, good to hear.

Any chances of small storms over the next week?

The hurt has begun. Officially one of the worst starts of the past years.

looks mainly dry for awhile still....at least thru the 20th. It's been a slow start but it can always change. Maybe December will bring the POW.

A whopping 1" below average. Pretty easy for a single storm to make that up.
If it's January 1st, its butthurt time. On November 5th? Comical.

I remember bad starts in the past. As long as it hits around xmas we'll be good. Otherwise, I'll be planning a lot of trips this spring.

Get the feeling November will be much like October, then by mid December the snowfall catches up.

I had been avoiding requests to hit up the beach for Thanksgiving to stick around for some holiday turns, but now I'm thinking I should change plans.

That reminds me, I'm headed to the beach for Thanksgiving, so that's probably when our first big storm will arrive in the northern mountains. Thank me later.

I think its a good bet that Holiday skiing at the i70 resorts is gonna suck this year. Again. Im talking about the low chances that the good terrain will be open by then. That snopack graph is gonna flatline for the next two weeks. So Co is gonna need a rare 2-3 in + SWE storm to recover from that, before Xmas, and those are very rare nowadays. Is it possible? Of course. The world keeps turning and winning the lottery is possible. Probable? Wouldn't bet good money on it.

Gonna defend muchos a bit. IMO, it's not necessarily over the top butthurt to look at historical data and draw some comparisons/conclusions of what the conditions may look like for the near future. I'm not ready to write off the season by any means but the extended forecast doesn't look promising. Hoping the cock blocking ridge out west breaks down soon. I think I'll go wash the cars today.

    Thanks.

Obviously waaaay too early to write off the season as a whole. Its impossible to do it this early. But early season (Nov-Dec.) is looking really down and doubtful it will be good since most good terrain needs about 4-6in SWE of base to be rideable then after that it is just a matter of getting good snowfall every now and then and be on it. Right now it just looks like that base will build much later than normal and probably a bit lower than normal as well. That is all.

Id say the exception might be Wolf Creek and Steamboat if any.

Well, looks like its getting real cold Monday night and beyond with the polar vortex dropping down . That's a start. Don't know if it makes it out of the plains though...

How about Wolf Creek? Opening top to bottom with no snowmaking on a 6" base. That's going to be a fucking gong show.

No stoke allowed Fritz, this is the Colorado Butthurt Discussion Thread.

My beloved MTB is stage 4, and only has one, maybe two rides left on it. Taking the old buddy out for one last shredathon in a couple days. I'll have to euthanize it shortly thereafter. :'( At least the dirt will be in great shape.

Is nobody else see the possible positive effects a dry start can have on our snowpack??? I mean don't get me wrong I'm jonesing to go skiing too but it seems like every year people get more amped earlier and earlier. I think somebody mentioned it already but I still think its very true. We'd rather see this blocking ridge now than in january. At least I know I would...

Don't get excited, the east will get the cold and the mtns will stay warm, not as warm, but that cold air will be east of the divide.

Yup, I'm pretty happy about it. I'd much rather enjoy the dry trails while it's still nice out. I'm ready for it to start snowing but love that anything south facing is currently free of an ugly facet base.

Yes, but this thread is reserved for teh butthurtz. There's a couple alpine S and SE faces that normally I don't touch until spring that were completely bare last week and could be reasonable mid-winter objectives this year if conditions cooperate...

Yeah, E through N is F'd as always. It seemed to only be S and SE that were bare in the Front Range, at least.
