    Pappy Van Winkle 20?

Anybody cool enough to be able to get a Pappy Van Winkle 20 year for close to your cost? That would be really cool but I could throw in some ski shit like binders (tele or Salomon STH12s or 912s, Dianese Compression Suit (XL or XXL can't remember but they fit SMALL; only worn a couple times (obvisouly not on top of the bottle. Got it at the SF store when I was working in Sacramento). Let me know what you want via PM or right here and I'll tell you what I have. Nice 4 buckle Garmont telly boots with 10 (think size was like 29.5?) or so rides on them and I never baked the inside. I just got sick and sick of getting hurt and don't want to live it hurt).

I can also pay you more than cost but not more that 20%.. Just throwing things out there.

My local store guy is gonna get me a Van Winkle 12' . It would be nice to check them out at the same time. My friend of 20 years just got me into high end bourbon. I want to get him a nice bottle for Christmas. Not a PVW or something but a decent bottle under $50.

I'm a beer geek that is getting into good bourbon but have been a beer geek and enjoyed Jim Beam as a staple long ago. My buddy just got me into it and I wanna get him a nice bottle under $50 (small bottle is fine) for Christmas. What would you recommend? It has to be pretty well distributed so I can get it though. Thanks for your ideas...

Just got my Van Winkle 12 year. Anybody have a 20 year or know where to get one without raping my ass with a hand-shape dildo? Ironically not looking for the 23.

What do you wear when you're ironically not looking for something? A fedora and a blindfold?

But I am looking for something. I got jeans, a Telluride shirt on, and a Surly hat on. Can you help? I can tell you I'm wearing panties if that will help. You really don't think I'm looking for a bottle or you don't believe that I got a VW '12? A PVW '20 even with a 20% markup isn't a big deal if someone can get a bottle at a normal price -- not the black market.

Are you getting dementia or something? Jeans too tight? I've seen people snowboarding in jeans lately. You're a trendsetter.

12 and 20 are way different. Just saying. I wasn't around to make the requisite calls to get my allotment this year. But always love that product. Too much hype now a days and so many great whiskeys to sip

Allocations were small this year and demand has skyrocketed. Wholesale prices increased nearly 50% across the board and the secondary market is just absurd. A bottle of 20y is like gold at this point. FWIW We're offering our bottles to customers who we know will drink them. If we have even an inkling that they might try to trade or sell their bottle then they are immediately removed from the list.

Yeah, I'm gonna sit out the PVW craze for the next couple years until the "next big thing" comes along.

If you're looking for a good bottle for your buddy under $50 look into Eagle Rare ($25) or Four Roses Single Barrel ($40.) Blanton's ($45) is good as well, but rather easy to find so your buddy probably has had it before.

My go-to gift is still Booker's, which is right around $50.

    Good advice^.

My LLS loves me, they set aside a 20 yo and a 15 yo PVW for me. I haven't ever tried the 15, I think I'm gonna crack it tonight after dinner. Really looking forward to it.

Edit to add: Sorry for the thread 'jack, and no, you can't have my 20.

I can guarantee this is meant for drinking. I couldn't justify somebody giving me a great deal and then screwing them by selling it.

track down a buffalo trace antique collection/four roses limited edition bottle, if he really likes bourbon, he'll really appreciate it over some over-hyped pappy.

Missing Bourbon Prompts $10,000 Reward Offer

    Posted: 12/03/2013 12:18 pm EST

    By BRUCE SCHREINER Associated Press

Authorities trying to solve a distillery heist that netted cases of prized Kentucky bourbon have monitored websites and interviewed more than 100 people since the pricey whiskey was taken weeks ago. Now a cash reward is getting mixed in.

Sheriff Pat Melton in Kentucky's Franklin County dangled a $10,000 reward on Monday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever stole the hard-to-get Pappy Van Winkle bourbon and rye whiskey. The whiskey was taken from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort in mid-October.

The heist netted 195 bottles of 20-year-old Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve bourbon and 27 bottles of 13-year-old Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye. The missing whiskey has a retail value of about $26,000.

"We're just trying to bring Pappy home," Melton said.

The theft has become a compelling mystery in a state that produces 95 percent of the world's bourbon and is home to more barrels of aging bourbon than people.

A crime stopper's organization put up $1,000 of the reward, Melton said, but he declined to say who else pitched in. With money aiding the effort, he predicted his detectives would crack the case.

"The net is narrowing," he said without elaborating.

Melton said nothing has been ruled out.

Detectives have been monitoring Craigslist, eBay and bourbon blogs in hopes of tracking down the pilfered spirits, Melton said, adding many other "eyes and ears" of bourbon lovers are also alert for the missing stock.

Bourbon fans want to know who took part of the limited Pappy Van Winkle stock because "that's less that they have an opportunity to get," he explained.

With all the attention given to the stolen whiskey, he said, "it's made it extremely hot to try to move or sell right now."

Pappy is among the nation's most sought-after bourbons, with limited production at Buffalo Trace for the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery. A Buffalo Trace spokeswoman declined comment Monday, citing the ongoing investigation.

The reputation of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon and its limited supplies have given the product considerable cache.

Gordon Jackson, owner of Old Town Wine and Spirits in Louisville, said it's extremely difficult to get an allocation of Pappy and his store is called every day by those seeking the product.

"Whenever we do have it, we really never admit to having it and we kind of stash it and hope to get it to our better customers," he said.

His store periodically scores a supply and charges $110 per bottle for the 20-year-old Pappy bourbon.

"The whiskey is extremely good," Jackson said. "That one has a lot of lore, a lot of mystique and it's really, really good."
"The mind, once expanded to the dimensions of larger ideas, never returns to its original size."

Ha....found out today that I "won" the right to purchase a bottle of Pappy 15. Local party store draws a name monthly for rare selections. Could be beer or spirit, and this month is the 15. Picking it up tomorrow.....not sure if I'll keep it or not. Hard to pass up a quick $300 profit (need skis).
