cold, spitting snow, n' blowing like hell at the south end of pinkham notch. drove through a whiteout snow squall in town last night that dropped an inch in just a few minutes. even if the t-day storm ends up being empty hype, chances of george being open for business once the weather calms down look pretty good

Sounds pretty cold up there, think I'll go tonight's football game instead. I've got all my ski clothes with me, but it will still be a bit chilly. Go Pat's!!!

Jealous of those getting out in the new snow...nothing actionable here.

Quiet work day here at Ron Burgundy's cabin

Sub 10deg ambient temp and howling north wind at the summit of Bromley. Jeezum, it was cold. I mounted the new Stigmas this morning and enjoyed the man made, mixed with the few inches of natural, this afternoon. Day 4 in the books.

with these punishing winds, the opposite may be the truth. the snow is getting absolutely tamped pounded into microscopic fairy dust and blown into evans notch, more than likely

ice climbing could be epic tho.

Hmmm, lemme know if it looks like it will be worth coming up next Friday. Assumption at this point is yes if the cold holds for the snowmakers.

And with that, the '13 season of trimming and exploring is over.

Very cold couple of hours this afternoon at the Bush. NO ONE around, it was amazing. When I got on the chair for the last run around 3:20, I was the only person on the whole line . Snow was, all things considered, surprisingly good. Just a few spots of sheet ice, and actually some soft spots around. Maybe we'll have some better man-made this year at the Bush?!? They were definitely cranking it up as the day was winding down, sure is good snow makin' temps.

Yehaw, I'm ready for the season to kick into full swing now

Deer hunting was downright miserable today. Stayed out of the tree stands and more than once had to look up to make sure no trees were fixn' on snapping off on my head.

Snuck out for the opening day yesterday with my Pops, and remembered that I usually ride strictly pow not bullet proof groomers. Felt good to stretch the legs and feet though. I'm getting old!!

Missed today but, I hear it was cold:
    Stoke from last year!

Jay was pretty good today. Skied some closed stuff and got pretty deep, then everyone started skiing the closed stuff. Man it was cold. 9 degrees at the base when we left at 1pm. Hottronics couldn't keep up in the Dobermans.

Last run the lift stopped 3 times, the third time for 5 min or so while we were near the top.

This picture doesn't really do justice to the cold and wind.

Poorly written article, never explained the incident happened in Oregon, to Maine surfers.

10.2` bob -6`summit good thing is the house shifting winds have died off so it's calm and quiet.
NEK showing dedication getting out in the widow woods, aren't days like yesterday for camp, cards and whiskey?
Akok, my observations of this years snowmaking seem to show fewer guns running more air = drier snow. Coupled with more moving of the guns instead of building the retarded whales of years past = a decent product. OG on Friday had the best opening product in the last 6-7 years with only 2 or 3 abrupt rollers over the entire length.
Ran into the Driven One yesterday and he has tallied 27 days of earn your turns skiing so far, I think it's too late to play catch up so I'll continue to cherry pick my days.

I have this whole week off, and I'd really like to get my first day on snow in for the season (latest I've held out for many years). The only question is, when and where? I have some gift cards to KTown I could use tomorrow to ski groomers, or I could try to keep a close eye on this storm for Wed and maybe scrape up some wet slop somewhere...

Anyone else gonna ski tomorrow or Wednesday? Bueller?

EDIT: Anyone know where I can get a KTown 2fer printed out?

    Yo Yeah!!!!!

    Bretton Woods.
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Jackson calling for rain after 8am on Wednesday and a high of 42. big k calling for rain. mmmm, snow, followed by rain, followed by flurries then a deep freeze. off all day today, but too cold to ski. headed to the woods to continue building trail. hopefully the ticks haven't discovered puffy coats

From the observatory, " As of now, it is looking like regions south of the White Mountains will see snow transition to rain fairly early in the day. Cold air damming in the north of the mountains will likely keep the snow for longer, but rain will likely infiltrate by the afternoon leaving only the mountains of the state to remain as an all snow event".

Hope at least Jay and MTW stay all snow - I'll be happy. Crank, if you are looking to ski Fri - Sun look me up. Will probably be up at Jay Thurs night through the weekend.

Holy crap, if this stays all frozen up high... http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/d13_fill.gif
