Thread: Fore! Who's playing golf, yo-

i'm trying to figure things out mechanically after the lessons last summer, all the reading and now more relaxed and focused practice. i'm swinging so much easier that it is making it a lot easier on me physically, which is a necessity right now. i'm making much better contact in large part because i have improved my posture and am rotating with better straighter levers around the spine axis, i'm starting to grasp the idea of swinging down on the ball, i've shortened my backswing and improved my wrist hinge, and because my swing is much more relaxed, i'm also not trying to muscle through the point of impact but keeping my arms extended through contact and letting the wrists turn over and finishing higher.

who knows if it's completely ass backward. i videoed a little yesterday and it doesn't look as good as it feels, but i'm making consistent impact that sounds and feels great. also we'll have to see if i can transfer it to the course, but part of that is mental, too and i'm working on that as well.

just got re-gripped with some midsize winn something or others - they feel really sticky but I heard bad things about durability... just wanted to try them though so I don't really care if I have to get new ones next year.

I did irons/wedges only - kept the standard grip on my 5wd and Driver... they thought I was weird at the golf shop but I like my driver swing fine right now. Any thoughts?

My dad had midsized for awhile, something to do w/arthritis, now he just wears two gloves.

Recall hearing something once about bigger grips maybe slightly straightening out a hook was it? Delays wrists rotating/closing clubface? Or i might have been hammered...

heading to Idaho Falls sunday for another ugly early round at Pinecrest, one of the courses built by the WPA/CCC....

another thing i liked from one of hogan's videos is that when he's setting up he puts the sole of the club over the ball so it's covering the right half so he can visualize where he wants to make contact.

Don't you shoot in the 130's or some shit? To care about routines like this, you need to actually be able to play the game...you are overthinking it.

Can we propose a minimum handicap threshold in order to contribute to this thread?

picked up the clubs from the shop - midsize grips sure look and feel big, glad I didn't go "jumbo" - I plan to take them out to the range this weekend. The "dri-tac" is really sticky feeling, which I like as I don't play with a glove. I think they are neoprene, and maybe not good in the wet - which is a giant who cares for me here in Reno! Should be interesting...

Beware of a newly developed or exacerbated fade.

no, twit, i shot 108. and hogan himself in his book thinks you're wrong. i'm thinking just enough about it to gradually begin to internalize what i've learned. everybody has their method. i've become more than proficient at more than one athletic event.

won't it be great? you can share the journey with me from 36 to scratch. i'll make sure to ask at least one question per day in here that will irritate the fuck out of you.

yeah, I wondered about that - not usually an issue for me with 7 on down, I've been pulling those more than anything lately. I do (or did) tend to fade the longer irons so hopefully this won't make that worse. I think I can adjust the long irons if my scoring club accuracy is improved by this change.

I don't have enough rounds in for an official ghin. Couldn't count the round that required putting with a 3 wood due to snow covered greens. Didn't count the round with two holes played with a toddler sized 5 wood and putter(WTF?). I'm playing at 2 clubs this season aiming for an 11. Played for the first time with some good sticks in the newest club. I was a 9 from tee to fairway and a 16 fairway to green. Grinning the whole time.

Steve Williams, who was on Woods' bag for a 12-year span that included 72 victories worldwide and 13 major championships, told 3 News in his native New Zealand that he didn't think Woods was "trying to gain anything on the field" but he should have been DQ'd nevertheless.

I bet you are average, at best, at any sport you have ever dedicated yourself to...you are full of too much suck for any other outcome.

Love the ap2's I picked up from Das last year. Real solid clubs.

Anyone playing in a league? I've played in a bunch forever haven't heard of any in my new location. Maybe 2 man team match play leagues were a regional anomaly like pro miniature golf or Irish Pub par 3 golf.

I play ci7's, had to rent clubs this winter, and used the ap2's...I agree, real real solid clubs. I may get a set this summer, definitely felt very comfortable with them. They have smaller faces than my Wilson's, but are just as forgiving.

Speaking of forgiving, did anyone watch the Heritage today? They upgraded the Bizhub super slo-mo camera to 18k frames per second...they showed how true to center the pros hit it...and compared that to slight mishits from amateurs...it was unreal how much the clubs contorted.
