"Those 1%ers are not an avaricious "them" but in reality the most entrepreneurial of "us". If we had more of them and fewer grandstanding politicians, we would all be better off."

A friend told me he was training for Japan the other day. It was really confusing.
I thought I saw the GSA at Red earlier in the week. It wasn't him, but there was something about the vibe that I was picking up on. It would have made sense, since it snowed a lot, but he probably wouldn't have stood in line for an hour, unless part of the training is patience.... which it could be.
This is probably the best thread on a ski-based site I've ever seen. I'm converted.
Need some stickers to spread the gospel....
My legal teams unofficial opinion is that since this is a parody Gaperaid should be safe from litigation. Just think Hustler magazines Lawsuit with Jerry Falwell-
"In Hustler Magazine, Inc. v. Falwell, 485 U.S. 46 (1988), the United States Supreme Court held, in a unanimous 8–0 decision (Justice Anthony Kennedy took no part in the consideration or decision of the case), that the First Amendment's free-speech guarantee prohibits awarding damages to public figures to compensate for emotional distress intentionally inflicted upon them.
Thus, Hustler magazine's parody of Jerry Falwell was deemed to be within the law, because the Court found that reasonable people would not have interpreted the parody to contain factual claims, leading to a reversal of the jury verdict in favor of Falwell, who had previously been awarded $150,000 in damages by a lower court."
Even though Gaperaid is a product, not a public figure, the same legal precedent will apply.

Gaperaid or Gaperade? Is Gatorade a parody of lemonade? How much did it cost ole Larry to get the decision?![]()

I've had my paralegals do some research and they are of the opinion that you will be skating on what we call "thin ice" copyrightwise. But that's what makes me my money.......
Steezix, Noob and Gnar, LLC
Ok, even if Gaperade is pushing some copyright boundaries, what would Gatorade hope to gain from a suit? Bad PR and a few meesly bones from some online user?
If you put out a product, probably a different story.
BUT what does the Church of GSA have to gain from said suit? EVERYTHING!!!! Thats publicity you can't buy.
Don't want trouble for a mag, but it would be pretty fucking funny to see that image on the evening news.

I was mowing the lawn a few minutes ago day dreaming about where on my riding mower to put the GSA sticker when I thought, what is this goes "viral" ?
( I hate that fucking term)
Imagine an Op-ed piece in the Times or some news network covering a human interest story about this shadowy cult figure worshipped by rabid powder-hound skiers, praying to a Diety in hopes of more snow....
With 100cms+ new we paid homage to the GSA by breaking trail to a treelined ridge in the Duffey and trained for Alaska
I have read every word in this thread. Back when it was only 20 or so pages, I Googled 'gaper spirit animal'.
Nothing.
Now it fills the first page on many different websites. You kids can do it.
Way to go!
