Yea I'm unbelievably lucky, my perspective on life has changed and every day I wake up is an unbelievable gift from god. I keep my remaining ski by my bedroom door so I can never forget... people get injured a lot worse than me over stupid shit all the time, I fell from the top of the Aemmer and didn't even break any bones. The world we live in is incredible.

I might consider putting up a TR/crash report later when the dust settles a bit, still haven't made up my mind if I want to make this that public... but if someone can learn something from my mistakes and it saves them from the horrific experience I had it might just be worth it.

Looking forward to hearing where my gear has wound up, if I get anything back I will be totally blown away with gratitude. Keep me posted!

Noice! No idea you got so much! I had to laugh at the footage of me on my ass by the tree I never was much good at high speed ski limbo!
Thanks for putting that together, good day to remember for sure. Looks like you guys went all the back and then some for your last run, how was the out?
As for our last run we did, we missed the zone I was looking for by less then 20 meters further over those flats, ( I knew I was right, just doubted myself ) next time...
    Man, It was great...

Went back up Reudi's for the last run, down the north side. The out, we tried to stay up high on the left to avoid the skiied out ravine for as long as we could. Not bad, but not great. Better use of vertical than the ravine for sure.

Which zone were you aiming for? I headed to the pillows that you can see from the traverse off Molars yesterday, but the run was pretty well wasted vertical other than the pillow section itself.

Nice vid. But why on earth would you want to jump on to the slope and start pissing around on top of your skier at 4:25?????

wow, thats awesome your ok. vid of that would probably go viral. don't suppose you had a contour pov camera with gps. top speed would be pretty quick. its totally different in knee deep pow. like taking 10-15 degrees off the pitch. hope you get your gear and get back on that horse or bull as it where

You remember I said after the flat it should roll into a real steep short wide open pitch? That one, you can only get to it the way we were going, trying to traverse there would make you miss it.

As for T2C comment, pay attention to that, its no joke. Remember the conversation we had before we started our first climb? It may be easy to get to, but it doesn't make it any less dangerous. Go do what you said you were gonna do, and do it soon, it'll be good for you!

I had a normal contour camera, and the shitty mount actually broke off on the climb up (the climb up is gnar as well!) so I lost the camera before I had a chance to even fall down the damn couloir. Had I taken the fall in knee deep pow it would have been much slower, and gentler but 60 degree pitch where I fell was icy followed by old, firm snow. Soft enough to slow me down a bit and not serious enough to injure me, but firm enough to make it hurt like hell. The rocks on the other hand were not as friendly...
My friend has a video of the actual fall, I take 2 flips than I disappear out of sight. The rest of the video is extremely badass as my friend snowboards the run in an EXTREMELY high pressure situation. SO thankful for having him as a trip partner for this day. The video is still very haunting for me to watch.
As for getting back on the horse, I skied half the day at Lake Louise on Saturday, the cruddy old snow was hard on my injuries but every turn on the icy groomers I skied was incredible. I really do need my back country ski back though!
Will keep you all posted, and remember- make every turn count!

Noted. The reason I did is so I could take a look down the line (to start figuring out my line) and spot him (incase he fell/ avy started building up). There was a reason for it, but it probably not a good enough reason to have two dudes, one chute.

After writing that, I spent a good bit of time pondering. Thanks for bringing it up and not just letting it slide.

Before you exit Molar Bowl trend skiers right, you'll be rewarded with some nice pillow lines in that small burn above the ravine.

Better get out there and ski some stuff before this hoar gets buried!

Hit those pillows the other day, pretty far down in the burnt out stuff. Good fun.

Angry, Also skied that fan you drop in to at 4.19, but did so from a nice lil straight line just skiers left from you.
    Looking for the next turn..

Theres not really much point in making suggestions as areas are always closed for blasting, so you can't really "plan" as easily as you can for other places. You have to go and get a winter restricted area permit each day from the info centre (opens at 7ish pst). Buy the guidebook and pick somewhere you're allowed to go... the good news is that everything there rules! The most popular/accessible skiing is out of the connaught creek drainage.

I don't tour out of Louise much but Fairview and surprise pass are supposed to be awesome, but make sure you're sure about stability for both.

Almost all the good tours in the rockies are in the book "alpine ski tours of the canadian rockies" by chic scott. Everything else is a secret

[QUOTE=angrysasquatch;3545806]Video of Feb. 5 with Robnow and 2stix is up here:

Awesome stoke!! I was there on the 3rd of Feb and had too look long and hard to find fresh lines like that in bounds, but they were found I'm thinking next year I get me some avy gear for my west coast trip. KH and RMR were awesome BTW, and a must for anybody who hasn't skiid them!! Hope you guys start getting some more snow soon.

PS that seamed damn close to a tree well entry at the 3:55 minute mark, almost hit a couple myself on my trip, and bumped into a dude who just spent 15 minutes digging himself out of one; always thought they were urban legends...

Haha. So not a tree well incident. I was going to fast through the trees trying to traverse the flats and suddenly i came up to about a waist high fallen tree right in my path, hence the "high speed ski limbo" comment before. I like that squatch included it to make sure I look like the gaper I am

And yes squatch, you are currently the only stoker right now. I was at KH yesterday for a family fun day of ripping bumps to refine the technique ( so I don't fall doing the ski limbo thing ) and watch my daughter progress into skiing chutes, drops and jumps. Such a proud dad!

I used to ski with a helmet cam, those that know me long enough, know what I was using, and have been thinking lately I need to get something going again. The shit I see sometimes, would be great footage. I just don't like the "telitubby" look. Waiting for something a little more discreet to show up. Until then, I gotta keep skiing with guys with cameras and giving them something to film
    Man, It was great...

Just based on how popular Suprise pass is i'd say give it a miss if you are here only for a limited time and only have 1 day...that thing is just getting more and more popular it seems.

I'll be in the area from the 20th, Could you guys give me suggestions on two tours out of Rogers Pass and one out of Lake louise. 1000/1400 Vertical.
    Thanks
It's hard to give you good suggestions for a certain date. All the best gnar stuff that people are going to suggest are going to be completely dependant on avalanche conditions. Don't worry about preplanning Rogers, just go to what's open you should find some good options to ski...hard to go wrong at Rogers. I'd recommend against Balu pass proper though unless you want a gaptastic experience.

As for Lake Louise area, go to highway 93 North, that place is amazing.
