as for the bird talk: somebody go shoot some of the grouse that live between scott and lakeview chairs
far too many of those lil f*ckers!
Powdork, those the new bumper skis by PM? Thanks for the vid. I was greatly stoked to see some soft snow skiing is available.

pole straps?
from 13-17 seconds you can clearly see there is no pole strap, or even the end of the pole. pay attention fer chrissakes.
and lepistoir, do you mean like bump skis, or like bumper cars? of the two, i'd say more like bumper cars.

Sorry for jong-ing up the thread, but which resort would be the best one to hit during the thanksgiving break (thursday or sunday), in terms of runs and lifts open? I am thinking of kirkwood, sugar bowl, mt rose, bear valley, or even boreal if there are no dumps in between

if this weekend's storms don't pan out then heavenly and northstar will be your best bet

You are probably right, but 77 dollars for nstar for such early season is kinda ridiculous, damn.
Anyone know which shops in Tahoe City have a Tyrolia jig? Might need to get a mount done on Saturday and won't have a chance to get to Truckee.
not counting days 2016-17
It is a little ridiculous that Northstar would actually charge that much early in the season with only - what, 30% of the terrain open? I say the ticket price should match terrain available - only 30% open, 30% of the price. $27 seems about right. Good luck with that one.
Ticket price matches market demand. Thousands and thousands of skiers want to ski..........they have open skiing.
I understand how they snuck this one in there and pulled a fast one on you. They just started doing this at full or close to full pricing 20 years ago. Almost got it past ya!

sorry for another thread jong up... but am looking for a place for myself and 2 others for a short ski lease, from mid december untill some time in march. would like a 2-3 BR place in south lake tahoe. All fairly responsible, willing to pay full rent up front. Just looking for something furnished and basic.
Just thought i'd see if any locals on here have anything, not having much luck on CL.
cheers
Hey Dad: Daves is the only option for tyrolia in tahoe city... I had the displeasure of dealing with them for that reason alone
The Dad (or any other Tahoe/Reno locals, for that matter) -- if you need to do a Salomon or Look/Rossi mount, I have jigs for both. The Salomon jig goes up to around 130mm; the Look/Rossi jig up to around 105mm.
The Look/Rossi jig is for Pivot and Axial, though I have a skinny jig for PX/Axial2 and FKS and can probably work out some combination that works to mount those bindings.
Bring beer and warm clothing, the shop isn't heated...
Metering system seems way off lately. Please let it snow.
Besides, it is not even like 30% of the terrain is open. Only 30% of the groomed terrain is open, netting just a few percent of the terrain. I think it should be more like $4.29 to ride the lifts base don the math. On the other hand, the off the hook fun factor of cutting and weaving through shit tons of gapers, combined with late day chunder and a three mile walk back to the car. Well then. That is worth some money.
Actually, I am a bit surprised it is full price as well. I went a few years ago and it was less than $40 to experience the WROD, but then again, that was the week prior to bird day. I needed it, as the day before was a death slog out in CPSR that included a two hour billy goat session. But man is that mountain flat on the front side.
Did anyone else see that message about the Tahoe Triple Threat Pass all of the sudden having a sooner deadline? I think this hints at the Kirkwood - JMA deal people have been discussing.
How about the actual full-price ticket this year. $91 to ski Northstar, really?

^^^^^^^
I read somewhere that Holiday rates may go over $100.
Due to at least two family weeklong trips planned to the Northstar area with the wife and kids...I looks like I will be adding Northstar and Heavenly to my arsenal of ski areas of which I can't take full advantage.![]()
also got the email stating the squawpine merger has been completed.

Somewhat SPAM, but for a good cause. While I could care less about the actual competition portion and would never log the kind of vert that most locals put up on pre-work and mid-week tours, the thing I like about this is that if the collective gets over 15 million vertical feet, Alpenglow will donate $3000 to the Sierra Avalanche Center.
Sign-up is free. Not something I would typically post-up (I am not affiliated with Alpenglow or anything), but figured it is a good cause for the Avy Center.

About the Backcountry Vertical Challenge
The 2011 Backcountry Vertical Challenge represents Lake Tahoe's first ever FREE, community-wide fundraising initiative to benefit the Sierra Avalanche Center. In a quest to attain operational dollars for Lake Tahoe's local avalanche forecasting agency, Alpenglow Sports has challenged the entire Tahoe backcountry community to a cumulative goal of 15 million vertical feet of human-powered uphill travel.
As a Tahoe backcountry enthusiast, this is your opportunity to give back to the Sierra Avalanche Center at zero cost to you! As such, every single foot of uphill travel matters, and no number is too small! While 15 million vertical feet is a lofty cumulative goal, the ultimate payoff is a $3000 donation to the Sierra Avalanche Center by Alpenglow Sports. The event is designed to motivate, inspire, and bond the Tahoe backcountry community around a vital resource for all methods of backcountry travel and recreation.
If $3000 wasn't enough, Alpenglow Sports will be paying participants in the form of gift certificates for their progress! The event will run from November 15, 2011 through April 30, 2012. For competitive types, podium prizes will be awarded for the top three men and women, as well as for best camera edit pertaining to the event. Any skier or rider that registers data is also eligible for a FREE bi-monthly raffle! Major sponsors include: Black Diamond, Scarpa, G3, Rotefella, Marmot, Suunto, Clif Bar, Smith Optics, and Honey Stinger.
