tr- ltd lbd @ am 4.23.11

a limited longboard day at alpine meadows
    present were
powdork, sinecure, schralphmacchio, dookey67, and tutu wearin' non-mag andrew

    refreshments

and to deal with the fear of not skiing

longboard day being longboard day i knew would be happier if i git the basketball jones out of the way before the days festivities. so i got up early to head up to rubicon peak, which lies just past this pretty place. this is by far the best the vis would get all day.

proof i really went there. this should raise our pow score to at least a d-

    al subi III

arrived at the meadows and hooked up with schralph, who had started w/o me. wtf?? i guess it was 10:15 after all

is schralph wearing a federation emblem?

so sinecure says "let's go to the kiddie park and hit some box". we were stoked, as you would imagine.

schralph slides in safe as the braves sweep the giants

if at first you don't succeed..
    he shoots

    he scores

then sinecure got his sponge bob on. sadly he had to leave to take care of little miss sinecure who he left sitting on the side of the run earlier with a pair of bruised ribs and possibly ruptured spleen.

for a snowboarder, schralph whacks his pole as if it's second nature. hmmmm.

skiing, otoh, is not quite as natural

but deep down, he knows skiing is fun.

and he's good with the camera too

    slope angle of 30 degrees
.- ..ski angle of 3 degrees
    = 27 degrees of backseat

tutu wearin', 198cm k2 msl skiin', non mag andrew

then dookey67 got to go bionic

back where we started, here we go round again

i'll have some video later, but i don't know if it will improve our score in that department

Nice job, fellas. LBD 2008 was a lot of fun. It's a worthy tradition, and I should try to make it next year.

it seems like it would be a no-brainer to do it again this saturday at the wood. stellar weather, everybody and their mother can get a free ticket, closing weekend tailgate parties.
    lets do it!

Hah! He'll actually be a mag-in-training JONG soon ... I've been calling him "MapleLeaf Gillies."

Great video PD! Love the rock exposure lines.

Re: KW longboard redux, if anyone wants the Atomic Bionics - I love how that rolls off the tongue - (307ish BSL with oldskool Look "Sensor" turntables) or lady longboard 198 MSLs (demo binders with adjustable toepiece that can fit AT or alpine bails), let me know (you have to clear it with Ottime though). I'm out of town this weekend but if you want to swing through the Oakland area and Ottime says coolio then just give me a PM.

    Dem Bionics is no joke.

I was makin' fun of Schralph for all the falling he did and then I got on 'em after a couple of refreshments and BAAAM!

I "killed" the Knob d'Gunner on 'em (the pic above), but when we hiked up into some fresh, calf deep goodness up under High Yellow, I spent a fair amount of time on my a$$ and was quickly humbled.

Given that Schralph has only been a 2-planker for about 1 season, he straight rocked the jiznock on dem skinny bo-bos!

We just gotta figure out who the hell hand-made 'em...

Sad to report that the most recent LBD @ AM just might be bogus.

After doing some uber minimal research (i.e. re-reading the G.N.A.R. rules in the back of Squallywood) I learned that Old School Day (which, by all consideration, is just another way of saying Long Board Day) consists of riding 214 cm skis and rocking a fart bag. Sadly, all of the Long Boards in action @ AM were 4 cm short of this minimum requirement, thus making the day unofficial, at best, and perhaps even invalid.

sinecures were 223 i believe and i had on a fartbag. rocked it again all day at the wood today. took a long time to soften, but our 7:00 red cliffs run was money.
