NICE! That last one sums up the 10 inch stimulus. I bet there is still some stuff worth hunting down tomorrow. Although the wind definetly went to work most places. Any other reports from today?

Those are some awesome pics of you guys. That stuff was hero snow eh?

Here are a few from today of buddy Will from today. Pow was still good in the AM but got baked on south through east facing by the PM.

Would have gotten some better pics, but the camera died after this sequence.

Looks like quite a nice day Wille. It must have been nice to get out to the west side. I've been eyeballing some pleasant retreats there as well.

That second pic looks like the same geniuses that traverse Mundys found the most dangerous spot possible to pointlessly traverse Argentina as well. That must be what the avy center boys thought was a crown line from the road the other day. Don't blame them, it's pretty much right where it slid last time. That's hilarious. Tone, there was a big traverse basically right from the boundary sign over across the middle of the first saddle bowl on saturday. pretty silly, its only 10 more minutes of hiking to ski all that stuff from the top.

That one goes under pepper rocks and wind scour, so I can't hate too much on that one.

But that one in Argentina is classic. I mean, that upper one looks like a group people all at once went right across that steep loaded slope that slid in January in the same down and across fashion that happens from the lift in Mundys. Ahh the habits people learn in the safety of the ski area.

"Lets climb over Saddle peak and traverse down and across the most avy prone slope possible with cornices and people dropping in above to ski 4 turns in low angle pow and traverse a mile back to the lift."

How do people reach these conclusions? Beats the shit out of me. Laugh at it while it's still funny, cause soon it won't be if that becomes the new backcountry beater's traverse of choice!

No shit. Be tough to find a more regularly wind-loaded zone.

    Saddle traverse

Noticed that Saddle traverse as well and thought of Tone.

We stayed on the Argentina ridge over to the north facing area in the shady shadows where I took some pics...why folks are making huge, slow traverses through sketchy areas is beyond me. Go one at a time fall-line from the top and be aware of where you are in relation to the mountain and other skiers.

Yeah, that one doesn't piss me off nearly as much as some others. At least it's under permanent pepper rocks and wind scour and not sweet steep showcase lines unlike anything else on the mountain proper. That upper slope could probably use some traffic though. Could develop an isolated wind pocket dangerous to those below? Amazing how much people skiing that slope is constantly breaking up the windslab.

Oh well. I don't care so much anymore. I've had some good fun this year with old friends and am happy about the good people I've only recently met and the new places to explore. It just comes down to quality over quantity in the end. Like with so many things here, sometimes you just have to move on.

I think I've found my future happy place. I might build a lean-to or something out there this summer. Now that would be sick. A place to chill for a few days once in while and not worry about anything except where you are going to lay down some nice tracks in the morning light before the lifts even open. Anyone interested? I'm no carpenter, but I have a vision....

Teenage Girl Clings to Tree While Awaiting Rescue

    Who: A 14-year-old girl
Where: Saddle Peak in the Bridger Mountains, Montana
Her mistake: She was skiing terrain that was too steep for her
What happened: A teen girl and her friend were skiing in the backcountry on Saddle Peak when the girl encountered steep terrain. She started to slide uncontrollably, but was able to grab onto a tree before sliding over a large cliff face.

The girl held on for about an hour while rescuers arrived. Gallatin County Search and Rescue along with Bridger Bowl Ski Patrol used technical ropes to lower the girl down the cliff to safety. Neither of the skiers was injured and both were wearing helmets.

Good God, I hope I get to grab a tree before going over the cliff face! No. I probably talk too much shit to get that lucky!

I hope to God that nobody ever gets hurt or killed here.

Major props to S and R and Ski Patrol for the happy ending.

Yeah Joe figured I would give everyone a fair shot and judge instead of compete...(haha)
But I will claim that I did show Carson his upper line(one of my favorites, and he nailed better than I ever have, hate to admit it but it's true)

Any of you lads the guy telewacking on blue bros today?

The storms flip flop and going down 191 to Moonlight to get the SW flow makes the winter better.
Thats Matt again. Super nice dude.
