    Tahoe or Summit County

Looking to get out of the lame east coast and head west. I was thinking about South Lake Tahoe for Heavenly and Sierra at Tahoe (The new BC access is going to be sick!) or Breckenridge in Summit County. I have been to Breckenridge several times and found it to be a very challenging mountain.

My question is since I have never been to the south shore ( Only been to Boreal once) how does the South Shore Compare to Breckenridge. Is Heavenly as steep as Breckenridge? What about the tree skiing? After going to Breckenridge a few times I know all about the the night live and it goes off! How does South Lake's night life compare? Does it get as crazy? Are the chicks as hot? How are the crowds during the week in South Shore? Would I need a truck with 4wd, or would my Audi A4 with snow tires get the job done. I do remember after skiing at Boreal that the snow was all manky, is that always the case for Tahoe? It also seems that Breckenridge has deeper and better snow.

I have job offers in both places, so I am just trying to figure out what the best choice will be.

If you find Breck challenging, I'm sure you'll be sufficiently challenged at Heavenly. If not, Kirkwood is just down the road. An A4 will suffice in Tahoe.

Everything (except Keystone and the Midwest) is steeper than Breckenridge. If you are worried about having enough steeps in the long term, maybe you should move to Granby so you can be one of the elite rippers of Sol Vista. Everything off Sol Vista's Conquest lift is gnar... ski Peacemaker glades or Rimfire if you can handle it...

Let's just say that Breck was angry that Keystone stole their planned catch phrase:

If you think Breck is challenging Tahoe will blow your socks off.

Having lived in both South Lake AND Breckenridge I feel uniquely qualified to say that you are a complete JONG.

Dumb question. You'll enjoy either. You'll never be good enough to ski Sol Vista. Don't even try.

without getting flamed, I'm going to stick my neck out and say that if you're into tree skiing, Heavenly is THE place to be in the west. You'll see your fair share of sierra cement, but when powder days come, they usually don't disappoint.
"Oh, no pics. To simulate the skiing today, walk out your door, grab a handful of snow, and throw it in your face. Repeat as necessary.
If you don't have snow outside your door, what the fuck are you living there for?"

He can try, but he may die. Look at what happened to Summit! He used to be the coolest cat in the world, then he skied Sol Vista. The ass puckering changed him for life.

is the A4 FWD or a Quattro?

If it is a FWD you will need to chain up when it snows.

You guys get more than the 8-16" dumps that they get in summit County? I thought Colorado would get more snow since it is higher up than cali?

Step 1: Pack everything in your car.
    Step 2: Drive West.
Step 3: Stop at the first mountain you see.
    Step 4: Stake your claim.
Step 5: Wait one week and call yourself a 'local'.

Who in the hell buys an Audi in Ft wheel drive? That might be the biggest JONG move I have ever heard. Now to the point, Breckenfridge is the Church Group Capitol of the world. If you want to ski with a bunch of bible belter Texans...Breck is your place.

It took an entire 45 minutes of internet dorks blathering for you to make up your mind? Sweet... but did you make the right decision?

I guess we forgot to mention, if you like cocaine, Breck is where it's at! I hope that helps...
